Most interesting Disney animation I’ve seen in years so it makes sense they scrapped it.
New animation test for ‘MOANA’ reveals the first look at scrapped characters called Tiki. Their faces were created using 2D-animation. (via @LostMediaBuster)

What people don’t get is that this is like 90% of movie worldbuilding. Show us a shot of a weird-looking dude and then never acknowledge it again. Star Wars is literally built on this idea.
Mad Max: Fury Road is a masterpiece in 1000 ways but one of those ways is dropping these guys in without another word about them

What it all comes down to is that episode 9 of #Andor didn’t need a single blaster shot, lightsaber, or explosion to have me the most energized I’ve been for Star Wars in years. All it needed was character, tension, and a perfectly executed final line. That’s why we watch.

Perhaps worse is when an actor would’ve been perfect but fate itself takes them away before it can happen. For instance: David Bowie was the first choice for Jared Leto’s character in Blade Runner 2049.
it’s so heartbreaking hearing abt actors who were almost in a perfect role but were busy doing a movie that’s a thousand times worse. like tarantino writing the inglorious basterds bear jew part for adam sandler but he was doing Funny People with judd apatow of all things instead.

I had hoped #Andor would make Rogue One better. Turns out it’s made all of Star Wars better.

#Andor single-handedly proves that pigeonholing Andy Serkis as, “the digital character guy,” for 20 years was a huge mistake.

I’ve seen this a few times now and I’ve come to the conclusion that either he’s genuinely a little bit upset about losing or he’s been hiding his real acting chops for years until this moment.
Dwayne Johnson being contractually obligated to never lose in a fight makes this clip so much funnier because he can't handle it 😭

I must break my silence. I don’t think many people would remember the Phantom Menace duel nearly as fondly if the music were different. Yes the choreography is big and flashy but John Williams is like 80% of that whole sequence.
#TheAcolyte aims to have a lightsaber fight that tops the duel with Darth Maul in #ThePhantomMenace . (via @EW)

What’s the main connective tissue between all of #Andor ’s arcs and their major characters?. Those who burn their lives to make a sunrise that they know they’ll never see.

Side note: Look at that great 2D animation from Disney. It’s almost like they can still do it.
Kevin Lima recalls how Jeffrey Katzenberg wanted Steve Martin to play Goofy and how Bill Farmer, Jason Marsden and Lima fought to keep Farmer on the film. "NOT JUST A GOOF" now streaming on @DisneyPlus . #NotJustAGoof #GoofTroop #AGoofyMovie #AGoofyMovie30

If my agent told me I wasn’t allowed to do The Amazing Race with my famous friend my agent would be fired.
Val Kilmer asked Will Forte to do "The Amazing Race" together after they became friends on "MacGruber." Their agents refused to let them. "Val said ‘Will, you and I have to go do "The Amazing Race." We have to. Let’s do "The Amazing Race."' I’m like, ‘I am so fully in.’ We got

“Um actually movies have used AI for years! All computer effects are AI so stop complaining!”. Respectfully, you do not know what you’re talking about. This is specifically generative AI and it’s completely different from algorithms used in movies in the past. I’ll explain. 🧵1/5.
‘THE BRUTALIST’ used AI to design some of the buildings in the film. “We use AI to create these tiny little details that we didn't have the money or the time to shoot.”

@docta_da @LucasSWGirl And this is like, SO clear. Like the whole show is about him being haunted by the path that Anakin went down. It’s clearly, obviously in reference to that.

@HEELGruffo I do know what they mean, but I’m also pointing out that a ton of animators and VFX artists actually made this shot and it’s weird that we don’t acknowledge that.

This show, ‘Rolie Polie Olie,’ was a Canadian production and I have to know if @nathanfielder saw this episode in 1999 and was just as terrified by it as I was when I saw it as a kid.

This is not an example of how hard it is to make a handsome white guy unlikable. He’s a commentary on how people will still like an objectively despicable person because he’s a white guy with a nice smile. Like that’s clearly the point. They’re saying that y’all are the problem.
@thuleanrevenant I've got an even better example. They tried so, so hard, and yet he's the only relevant and memed character from the series

No one will ever convince me movie theaters will ever die out after experiencing the last hour of Avengers: Endgame on opening night. “Cinema,” or not, that night was the pinnacle of movies and the power they hold in peoples’ lives. #MovieCheers.
Name a time when people spontaneously cheered during a film in a movie theater while you were in the audience. Please you hashtag #MovieCheers.

@GriffinResident Basically if two people are looking at each other in different shots, you want to keep them facing each other so that the eye lines feel right. Otherwise it can look like they’re both looking at a different thing offscreen, like it kinda does here.

@Joe_Brennan_ I have to assume they maybe just had a social media person film it and/or they had to work with the geography of the room and they didn’t think about it at all until the edit and then they were probably like, “OH NO,” but they couldn’t reshoot it so they just went with it.
