Ex-MP Nick Brown was suspended from Labour in 2022 for something that happened ~25 years earlier. Is it possible that the denials Brown made in 1998 weren’t entirely true? And how old was his boyfriend?

Wes Streeting’s WhatsApp messages to Peter Mandelson are a disgrace. He calls Israel a ‘rogue state’ and says we should punish it with ‘pariah’ status. And he reveals why: because he’s scared of the Muslim vote. Labour is so finished, says Brendan O’Neill https://t.co/gNBvnupLGd

His self-leaked WhatsApp messages confirm it: Labour is completely unfit to rule.

I am sceptical about Wes Streeting's disclosure of Whatsapp messages between himself and Mandelson. Wes is a bright lad & so was aware that Mandelson's electronic devices had been seized by the police. He was simply getting ahead of the game. Being "noble" had nowt to do with it.

It’s striking how swiftly many politicians demanded Boris Johnson’s resignation over cake, yet have shown unwavering support for Keir Starmer after he appointed someone he knew had close ties to a convicted paedophile.

But on a serious note, let's please remember that this is the Prime Minister who gave one of the highest possible diplomatic roles to a man everyone knew chose to keep company with a child rapist and trafficker. Did your MP clap the man who did made that choice...?

@LouiseMensch @elonmusk Somebody competent? Like who? Most of the Labour front bench should be stacking shelves at Lidl. Starmer going is step 1. He will be replaced by someone worse. That person will soon resign as well. That's step 2. Which leads to step 3: an early election at which the Labour

Indeed, it is the bare minimum for any PM. Starmer needs to step up or step out.
@bindelj Call me wildly idealistic, but I like to think we'll one day have a PM who gives a shit about protecting the rights and safety of girls and women.

@ajcdeane I reckon Starmer’s played the snap general election card knowing most of the cabinet would lose their seats. Sarwar on a different electoral cycle will have been thinking in different terms.

Three things that are plain as day: 1) no way Sarwar thought he was going on his own today. He was assured others would follow the lead 2) someone quite significant has obviously bottled it 3) it’s impossible to keep a lid on who that was. Too many people will be in the know

I urge all my colleagues to come together, remember our values and put them into practice as a team. The Prime Minister has my full support in leading us to that end. 3/3
