Last year vs this year’s replica jersey offerings from the fine folks at MLB, Nike & Fanatics. Last year’s being on the left and this year’s on the right.
I have a lot to say, so bear with me here.
Let’s just rip the bandaid off right away with this year’s new jersey offerings
These are absolute trash. Pure garbage. I fully admit to being a jersey snob, but when these things reach the point where we are now, it is completely acceptable to expect more.
I am not particularly fond of the last few years of replica jerseys produced by MLB/Nike/Fanatics.
You can lots of times grab these jerseys for under $200, and get the quality the players have with their jerseys.
@MLB
@Nike
@Fanatics
Simply do better.
Fans deserve better options.
This is a shit product and you know it.
this year, Nike/Fanatics/MLB expect you to purchase these new jerseys & enjoy it. They have basically sold you a shirsey with buttons for the fantastic price of $175 before tax at Team Store. Versatility at its finest. Look like a little leaguer while you pay big league prices.
They cut corners and increased prices, citing demand & inflation as causes for the incremental price hikes. The materials for the actual jersey are not bad, but not great either. Just ok, and thats fine on a replica jersey. They eliminated the majority of stitching on the jerseys
It’s disgusting. It’s wrong, and simply in my opinion, I am not ok with it.
I hate seeing people get taken advantage of on things such as these, and I fully understand people make their own decisions with how they spend their hard earned money, and that’s fine.
Heat pressing, has been replaced by almost sublimated fabric. It’s cheap. It’s lazy. Quite frankly, it’s embarrassing. I would feel uncomfortable wearing one out in public, but that’s just me.
instead settling for a heat press approach, resulting in a visually, less appealing and shortened life expectancy for the jersey. No longer was the front plackets and names & numbers, multi layer, raised lettering & numbering. They instead opted for multi-color, single layer heat
pressed on to the jersey.
In what appears to be a race to see how bad things can get and how high can we jump prices, this year simply says, hold my beer. This year, the materials used for the jerseys are made of a lighter material.
the MLB logo has been moved to lower down below the neckline piping. Spacing is horrible. Cramming in a lot into a small space, while having tons of room to work isn’t a good look. The multi color lettering and numbering is less defined, and not visually crisp.
The thing I compare this most to is everyone’s favorite, cheap alt to a jersey,
the world renowned shirsey. A shirsey is a tshirt sold in stores w/screen printed, team word mark on front & player name/number on back. Similar to the jersey, just on a shirt, at a fraction of price
But when you consider what the options are, the lack of choices, and the price points things have reached, they are absolutely taking advantage of people.
Thankfully, there is still time and alternatives.
Most team stores are trying to liquidate inventory to make more room for these abominations, so you have a pretty good chance of purchasing last years at a 40-50% discount. I would suggest calling team stores and seeing if you can place an order over the phone
Authentics (jerseys the players wear) saw the new material used on last year’s All Star Game jerseys, and it’s not the same as the replicas. Simply put on the replicas, it’s cheap, and a completely unnecessary change. You can see the changes when comparing side by side,
if you do not live close by a team shop. Another alternative, and this is by far my favorite way to go, wait until the end of the season, or you could even likely score now, buy a team issued authentic from the previous year, and get it customized by a professional jersey shop.
I officially feel seen after my thread on Replica Comparison Jerseys. If you took time to read/like/add thoughts, Simply, thank you.
Here’s a look at the authentic the players will wear this year. Not much better. Sorry. 😢🙁
Logo Name Number needs space.
Let them breathe! 💩
The Rangers will not wear their city connect uniforms tonight; they haven’t yet received them from Fanatics.
The club expects to have them by their next Friday home game (April 26).
@nathan_h_b
Wong’s at bats recently have been much better.
He’s been hitting the ball hard, and even though the results might not show it, he was due to get a big hit. Kudos to him for coming through with the game on the line.
Hey,
@mlb
@nike
@fanatics
Since you are going back to a better version of the jerseys, I think you owe anyone who bought one of these 2024 garbage jerseys a refund. No one has owned these more than 3 months.
Do the right thing.
@FanaticsSucks
Can’t help but feel pure sadness looking at these two photos. I really hope those responsible do the right thing, but honestly think this is what we will have to suffer and deal with this year.
He’s either blind or no one has presented a version of the new replicas in front of him.
Mr. Manfred also assuming people are happily going to shell out $500 for one of these new authentics, and like them after wearing them a bit? Buddy is completely clueless.
Rob Manfred on the new 2024 MLB Nike jerseys:
"The jerseys are different. They're designed to be performance wear... I think after people wear them a little bit, they're going to be really popular."
(via
@SNYtv
)
Hmmm….. that’s strange. The Mariners gave me this pair of pants last year during fantasy camp in January. They are not see through. How is that possible if they are the same? Yeah, they are not the same. Lies.
New statement on the pants from an MLB official: “The uniform pants have the same material and thickness as the uniform pants used last season. There were changes to the fabric of the jersey, not the pants.”
i.e. design and sizing changed but not the material, per the league.
That jersey review/thread I posted has really taken off.
Thank you. 🙏
However, if you are going to use my photos I took. Please give me credit for them at least. You didn’t create this, I did.
With spring training in full swing, some baseball players and fans are speaking up about new jerseys that include updated fabric — and not all comments are positive.
@sambrocknbc
reports on the MLB jerseys.
They keep saying
@fanatics
isn’t the problem.
The company responsible for manufacturing can’t even manufacture normal jerseys! For the teams!
#fanatics
is the problem! Wake the f*ck up!
I tried to tell everyone.
#fanatics
is ruining everything.

MLB is bringing back Players Weekend, no special jerseys, but they will wear special caps "featuring each players' uniform number on the side panel in a youthful design."
Weekend of August 16-18, no pics of these caps yet.
1.3 million views as of this morning. Wow. Thank you.🙏
If you took one second or even looked at just one word I typed, simply want to say thank you. 🙏
Pretty cool to see my words make an impact and receive some sort of reaction from so many.
@LookoutLanding
Embarrassing tweet. Only sport you have to play & compete till end of game, can’t waste time to run the clock out.
Looks like you might’ve learned something tonight. Also, probably shouldn’t be covering the M’s if you’re going to fire off tweets like this before the games over.
I decided it was time to write a proper article and publish my thoughts on the replica jerseys. Never in a million years did I expect to have my thoughts go viral, and people enjoyed what I wrote, so why stop now? Enjoy! 🙏
I tried to tell everyone two months ago.
All 3,
@MLB
@Nike
@Fanatics
are responsible for these. All 3 said, yeah these uniforms will work just fine. Not one stepped up & said hey, we got a problem.
It’s a shitshow, & all 3 companies are too big to fail. They simply don’t care
@paultmcmillan
@sandiegonhl
Prior to Nike acquiring licensing rights, Majestic was the jersey manufacturer, and Majestic was sold to, you guessed it, Fanatics in 2017. Nike took over licensing in 2020.
It’s been a few days since we have heard any new developments on the jersey fiasco with
@mlb
@nike
@Fanatics
.
That’s no reason to stop holding them accountable for selling us this garbage.
I will continue to encourage people to not to purchase these New Jerseys.
Shameless plug for myself, but if you are needing a last minute Valentine’s Day gift for your significant other, look elsewhere. Here’s a thread about why this is a bad gift to give.

I appreciate the level headedness of this post this morning. I do think people don’t realize, Seattle isn’t exactly a destination for free agent hitters. Couple reasons. Hard to hit in the ballpark. Mariners travel more miles than any team during the season. 1/2
Thrift finds from this morning. Really cool stuff. Don’t usually find this many in one spot.
@wafflebored
would probably appreciate these vintage jerseys. Now to find hockey equivalents.
@MarinersSteve
Where exactly are they going to find a
25-30 HR, 80-100 RBI outfield in the off-season? Tough to not only find one, but also hard to sell them on Seattle.
@BaseballQuotes1
Hi, do you mind giving me photo credit if you are going to use my photo? Thanks.
You should also give the other person for their photo of Mikolas jersey as well.
@wyldpitches
@Pappy_Hour
@BeisbolCardBlog
Said they couldn’t get their hands on anymore since the jerseys were changing again next year. Not from a design perspective but more so the materials/fabric used. So long story short, the jersey I sold them, probably ended up in a Topps product. Possibly labeled as Game Worn.
Brutal. Two completely different shades of gray.
@MLB
@Nike
@Fanatics
why are you allowing this to continue? Players and coaches deserve better.
Imagine working your whole life to reach the peak of your sport and this is what you get.
Sad and pathetic. Fix it!

different name on ebay account, was another Topps/Fanatics employee. Thought it was interesting they were buying on eBay when they should have been able to get direct from Fanatics.
Messaged them asking if they need any others and why was Topps buying blank authentics.
I see a ton of people suggesting DHGate/Knockoff jerseys as a suitable option for jerseys.
I can’t endorse that. Myself, I would never go that route. Simply because I want to be authentic to my true self. I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing fake stuff, but that’s just me.
@thejagepage
2/2 and when you are making $20m a season, is a team offering $25m a season really going to entice you to come play ball there? Probably not. At some point, players realize they make more money than they could ever need. Why go somewhere I don’t want to play?
The Mariners don’t have their Sunday cream uniforms yet. Still delayed from Nike. They are supposed to be back for the next homestand.
Also Bryce Miller wore the bat boys pants for the city connect game cause his didn’t fit properly.
They had an entire offseason and Spring Training to get them to you. Don’t tell me those got quality control checked. 🤦🏼♂️🤣 Thanks

The biggest differences are the way the jersey number & names are applied to the jersey and just the overall presentation of the jerseys. On a Replica, the name & number are heat pressed and typically not stitched onto the jersey, where the authentic everything is stitched. (1/2)
We got a shipment of the news Mets jerseys at the store today. Some of them are quite literally melted/fused together.
Where is the quality control?!
@Fanatics
I will never understand how elite athletes in a particular sport can look like this attempting another sport when their position in their sport they get to call themselves one of the best in the world at requires them to throw a ball. Someone explain this to me. This is wild.
Hello
@michaelrubin
, who told you to increase prices & lessen the quality of the jerseys? Who asked you to continue giving fans the middle finger? Who made sure there were no quality control aspects in play before rolling these & other things out to customers?
Do better & own it
Michael Rubin, Fanatics CEO speaks about MLB’s new Nike uniforms, manufactured by Fanatics, that have rankled players:
“A difficult position for us - we're doing everything as we’ve been told and we’re getting the shit kicked out of us. So that’s not fun.”
1/3
Surprised they did so well with these. Nice, clean look on the jerseys. Colors work very well together. Logo is just ok, but they can do well by creating an identity with these and not change or add jerseys every single year. Of course goes against everything the NBA and Nike
@nickhawkss
It’s $175 before tax. This was part of my thread where I was explaining prior to this portion, you can likely grab a team issue from previous season for around $200. Sorry for the confusion, ran out of characters on posts in thread.

It’s on all 3 of the parties involved. Not one of them stood up at any point and said, hey, we have a problem here. These look awful and not up to the standards the league and its players and coaches deserve. Some these passed as acceptable?
No one said a word. All to blame.

Back in October, I had a Reds City Connect On Field Authentic Blank Back listed on ebay. Person sent a strong offer and I accepted. They paid and the address to ship to was Topps/Fanatics in Texas and at attention of the Relic Department Manager. Different Topps/Fanatics person.
@nathan_h_b
Below average defensively? Guy made 3 errors the entire season last year. He has 1 error this year and a .999 fielding percentage on the season.
Yes, he isn’t hitting much right now, but stop this bullshit narrative you are trying to push.
I don’t want to sound like I am complaining too much, but I just got an email from the
#Mariners
letting me know about opportunities to purchase pregame field passes. Pricing ranges anywhere from $120-$185 before fees & doesn’t include the ticket to the game you also need to have
Players will always have more of an idea of the actuals than individuals on Twitter/X who claim/think they speak for the entire fan base. 🤣🤣🤣
I appreciate Cal Raleigh and his comments during the interview.

Julio’s momentum is also carrying him away from play. It would be incredibly difficult for him to reset his feet to make that throw home since all his momentum has him moving towards RF. It’s normally the CF’s call on that one but you have to know the situation/def positioning
This is a pretty good read explaining all the details on the Rays City Connect Uniforms. I want to wait until seeing them on the field before passing final judgement, but these seem pretty ok to me, and I would imagine even better with the pre 2024 template whenever we see them.
Some truly epic logos coming out of this Tampa Bay Rays City Connect release, the entire set is inspired mostly by the Tampa Bay Area's role in skateboarding culture with local elements rolled in, Sunshine Skyway Bridge, the St Pete pelican.
My story:
ICYMI, I published two articles this last week talking about going viral, problems with MLB jerseys and my thoughts on the fan offerings for this upcoming season. I would love it if you check it out and if you are a Medium member, give me a follow. Thanks
@Dbacks
Right. Re-read what you wrote previously. It hasn’t always been that way. Prior to last year the sleeve patch was traditionally worn on the left sleeve. So, no, it has not always been that way.
This is worth a read. I guess all you gotta do is ask, and our teams can have the larger font letter back. Make the call please,
@Mariners
. You too
@Cubs
Thanks.
@MarinerMuse
There’s a good shot, by the end of August, he could have 20+ HRs and between 70-80 RBIs and you’re still complaining. Why?
Where exactly is Seattle going to find someone and bring them in who can hit 25-30 homers and 100 or so RBIs? There wasn’t an OF this offseason. Next Yr? 🤷♂️
I wasn’t initially going to say anything, but the intensity and fighting is starting to make its way back into hockey.
And you know what? I’m here for it. It’s part of the game, and you can’t tell me otherwise.

I have no idea, but I am still trying to get to my first game in the Kennel. Very kind of you to be giving away tickets. Enjoy the game this weekend!
Simply for the sake of guessing, I will go with Zags 4 Life. 🤷♂️
Higher price point, lesser quality materials. I realize the Team Store has no say in the matter, but these are garbage.
@nike
@Fanatics
@MLB
you all should be ashamed of yourselves for this garbage you wheel out.
Hey
@icethetics
and
@UniWatch
, why are you attempting to gaslight folks saying Fanatics isn’t to blame for the MLB jersey fiasco? They are just a responsible for the product as MLB/Nike. They had every opportunity to stand up and say this product does not look good & chose not to
Hitting around the league is bad right now. Lots of players experiencing power outages at the moment. Pitching is dominant.
Are guys not picking up the spin on the ball? Remember when they outlawed the sticky stuff? Spin rates dropped. Seems like they are increased again.

@BaseballGeek72
🤔 I think any production from the DH spot, and the team goes to another level. Doesn’t necessarily need to be Garver. It would be nice though. 👍
Tom Ricketts can have Mark McGwire wearing Cubs gear coaching players but refuses to acknowledge that Sammy Sosa even played for the Cubs. The hypocrisy!
Protecting a one goal lead, less than a minute left, Vegas pulled the goalie. Why are two guys chasing the puck at the blue line? Shot from there near the boards doesn’t hurt you, but the uncovered guy on the backside absolutely will. 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
