I talk about the #Mariners way more than any east coaster should.

Let’s put it this way. If Julio hits the 8/280 extension, he’s currently owed 12/365 from the Mariners. He’s currently 24. Kyle Tucker is likely to get the same, if not MORE than that this off-season in free agency - and he’s 28. Julio is a Mariner for life unless HE asks out.

Also to be clear this is 100% happening. If the Mariners decide *not* to pick up his club option, it becomes a player option that ranges from 5/90 to 5/125 starting in 2030. In other words, if the Mariners decline it, you trade him. Because he’ll leave two years later.

The club option needs to be decided on by the end of 2028. 10/350 is still absolutely in play for him, but it feels more likely the club option will land at either 260 or 280. Which… will be an absolute 100% yes from the Mariners come decision time.

Julio now needs one more Top 10 MVP finish to push his club option to 8/260m. He needs an MVP or two more top five finishes to push it to 8/280m. He needs (2) MVPs or three more top five finishes to push it to the max of 10/350.
Julio Rodríguez finished 6th in AL MVP voting this season. He has finished in the Top 7 in AL MVP voting in 3 of his first 4 seasons. Rodríguez hit 32 home runs and stole 30 bases in 2025, becoming the first player in franchise history to record multiple 30+ HR and 30+ SB

If the Mariners offered Randy Arozarena, Dominic Canzone, Jurrangelo Cijntje and Harry Ford, while also taking on the whole contract - they’d get laughed at. And that’s the same exact trade you just proposed.
I'd trade: Brendan Donovan, Jordan Walker, Quinn Mathews and one of my top rated C's in the organization. Id absorb the full contract and offset that with the Sonny trade - and money already coming off the books. #stlcards

Source: The Guardians are hiring Tony Arnerich as their bench coach. He previously served as the Seattle Mariners' bullpen coach (and their hitting coach before that).

Well over. The better question is O/U 3.5 ABs prior to June.
@thejagepage Over or under 3.5ABs for Colt Emerson during regular season.

Haven’t really looked at pending FAs, but it’s probably similar to the off-season. The issue is players will move before then, so it’s kind of tough to predict that.
@thejagepage Assuming we play this season similar to last with known holes in the roster that we fill at the deadline, who are some deadline acquisitions you’d expect us to target?

Setting the line at 49.5.
@thejagepage How many games will Harry Ford catch for the Mariners next year?

Somewhere between A and C. If they want a stronger roster, they need to go to a payroll number we haven’t seen, or they need to burn the farm.
@thejagepage The Mariners' opening day roster in 2026 will be (a) weaker, (b) stronger, or (c) about the same as their end-of-year 2025 roster.

If a top 100 is going I think it’s Arroyo. Bat will travel, but he’s still relatively positionless.
@thejagepage Which one of the beloved prospects do you think is the most likely to get traded?

Given I don’t think it’s a rebuild and more of a money save, it starts with Bryce Miller. Plus.
@thejagepage What's Ketel Marte cost the Seattle Mariners?

True - and we’ll place the confidence at 60%. (I do think they want to upgrade 3B, but the market there in their price range of AAV and trade targets is GROSS)
@thejagepage True/False and % confidence in your answer: the Ms will enter 2026 starting two of Young/Williamson/Emerson at 2B/3B.

Big pass for me. Contract is tough. His hype is bigger than Seiya Suzuki, but I’m not sure he’s the better overall player. Would assume 6 years, probably 15-20m AAV plus posting.
@thejagepage Yes or no on Murakami? What do you think the contract would look like?

Would take Mitch Keller yes
@thejagepage Would you ever want a “Mitch” playing for the Mariners again in the near future

I think the org has spoken in a way where it feels like they’d *like* to have Cal DH a little bit more. That is essentially fully dependent on Harry being a viable big leaguer. I think the org’s current plan is for him to be a contributor.
@thejagepage If Ford is on the roster, do you anticipate him being a significant contributor at other positions, or strictly the backup C?

Modernize the 80s jerseys.
@thejagepage If the Ms ditched their current color way, what would be your pref?

Personally I think it *should* be, but I get it. I think it all comes down to Canzone’s ability to maintain what he found this year (I’m still not a believer and will be happy to be wrong)
@thejagepage If they open with some combination of Canzone/Robles/Raley in RF, how likely are they to need an OF at the trade deadline?
