From GMFB this morning: Kyle Brandt's great comment on Philip Rivers coming out of retirement at 44 to play in an NFL game for the first time in five years. @jayyang @chriswillx @tferriss

This is the first year I used a ricer instead of a potato masher. I spent the morning making Play-Doh hair out of boiled potatoes while watching the Macy's parade.

Hey @BestBuy, an email receipt says I bought $1082.48 of stuff at the Rockwall, TX store with a Best Buy card. I'm in FL and don't have a Best Buy card. Calls to customer service are cut off or unhelpful, and calls to the store end up at customer service. Who can help?

I have to wonder if Bill Belichick's tenure as an NCAA coach will end up as an eerie parallel to Nick Saban's tenure as an NFL coach.

Check out the view from up here! As the Curiosity rover continues to climb the flanks of Mt. Sharp, it has captured an extraordinarily clear panorama of Gale Crater's rim...and even the lands beyond. Details: https://t.co/Zv9gQzybLO

Controversial opinion: X should stop deboosting threads. It's a beautiful format, ideally placed between a banger tweet and a long-form essay. A great thread is a string of pearls where each tweet can spark off different conversations. Retweet this if you want to see more threads

Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.

It's a beautiful day to remember that the second-order effects of what you are doing now will arrive much later. --Jack Butcher (via @chriswillx)

“You don’t have to believe every thought your mind offers.” Great thread from @stevemagness:
Ever get caught in a spiral of “what ifs”? You’re not alone. Overthinking happens when our brain tries to protect us, from failure, from pain, from the unknown. But left unchecked, it holds us back. Here’s how to break the cycle.

Had a great meeting yesterday with Ziv Karliner and Dor Sarig of @Pillar_sec. They said something a little mind-bending: with AI, your data is executable now. It's always been "code is code and data is data", but now data (e.g. the text string of an LLM Prompt) is not just bits

You change your life the way Hemingway said people go bankrupt: "Gradually, then suddenly." Make small, almost imperceptible changes over time, and one day you realize that you really have changed your entire life.
The most reliable way to change your entire life is by not changing your entire life. If you try to change your life all at once, you will quickly find yourself pulled back into the same patterns as before. But if you merely focus on changing one specific habit, work on it

Harvey Firestone built one of America’s great industrial empires from scratch. You've probably heard of Firestone tires. Here are 12 timeless lessons I learned while researching him: 1. A Taste for Saltwater: Most people spit out saltwater; Harvey savored it. The harsh,
