Experienced this last night yet again.
Disabled people are expected to be endlessly available, endlessly grateful, endlessly accommodating, and our boundaries are treated as optional. Saying no is framed as being โdifficult.โ Asking for space is seen as ungrateful. Setting limits is treated like a personal insult.

We hope the good people of #SanFrancisco will forgive us for adapting a song about their city in 1967 to address the shocking and tragic events in #Minnesota in recent weeks. This is dedicated to Renรฉe Good and Alex Pretti, and in solidarity. Our version is called "Minnesota" โค๏ธ

This is exactly what happened in Canada. The bill was originally only for terminal illness. When expanded to include disabled people, they removed the safeguard that meant doctors couldnโt โsuggest itโ Now many disabled people have death offered in lieu of care.
The show-stopping and stunning 92-year-old Baroness Butler-Sloss raging against the assisted suicide bill in the Lords today. She warns that AS would be expanded far beyond the terminally ill to people with disabilities and mental health conditions, as it has in other places.

We do NOT need work coaches in GP surgeries. We DO need: More GPs, Therapists, Benefits & Debt Advisors, Domestic Abuse Workers & Social Prescribers save lives & NHS cash by tackling mental health, poverty & trauma. ๐ Patients deserve care that heals, not pushes jobs.

I do find it funny that most of the people calling me angry & bitter over the last 24 hours are: angry & bitter. I know I'm angry, because of the erosion of hard won rights, the collapse of the NHS, the demonising of any disabled people that don't look disabled. For a start.

When the Tories attacked the sick and disabled, I opposed it. When this Labour government did the same, I opposed it. I will never vote for calculated, cruel policies that harm vulnerable people. Me for @tribunemagazine ๐ https://t.co/SshX8fmOgP

The Starmer government is once again seeking to push through welfare cuts that will disproportionately harm societyโs most vulnerable โ a shameful contravention of the Labour Partyโs moral mission...

Being disabled is a minority group you can join at any time. Everyone believes they will be the exception. That it wonโt happen to them, or when it does they will โtry harderโ than us The truth is most people will become disabled. Health is both fragile & temporary.

@TheCanaryUK @h_sharland The part where they admit the "suspension of human rights" of disabled folk is especially sinister It really is everything we feared

@Shxrp4 @code_wizard_uk @SamanthaTaghoy The majority of people on PIP work. Statistically. It isnโt an out of work benefit. Never has been. It is there to allow people with disabilities to be able to work. You can still work and claim PIP. Most people do.

Ordered some sale stuff from Tu at Sainsburyโs - this is how it arrived. Looks like jumble sale goods. Spot the issue with the sandals? (The packet was open already, so not that!) Guess I canโt wear those this weekend! #badlypackedparcels #oddshoes

Today I have woken with a deep anger at everything. If everyone wants disabled people to play a greater role in society, said society needs to be more accessible, more inclusive & more welcoming to disabled people. We should be able to live as we choose.
