I’m a dad, I love retro (especially Atari ST), I build stuff, AI helps me get shit done, and I believe in a thing called love.

1/x So I’m thinking about content formats that will be fun and useful. A bit of me is thinking maybe a complete history of the Atari told over many many threads? Eat instalment a month of ST history over multiple magazines with adverts and reviews and previews and news with ..

This reminds me a bit of my old Coldfusion days in the early 00s. I arrived at a company using MS Access databases and they wondered why it kept dying. I may be old.

I am currently being mugged for chips by a 1 year old. It’s a good life.

I try to bring original content and not retweets but sometimes you just have to make an exception. Just look at that. Absolutely drool-worthy.
What was once contemporary is now retro... System setup in 1989 • 1 x Atari STfm • 1 x Atari 130XE • 1 x Sega Master System • 1 x Atari 1050 5 1/4" FDD • 1 x Datel 3.5" FDD • 1 x 14" Philips Colour TV 1 x Happy owner of every underdog system released in the UK

Will probably share the code once it’s tidy. Needs a server with php and a bunch of pdfs in folders. That’s it. No fancy stuff, quite happy running on a raspberry pi.

Vibe coded a little tool to help me with digging through my entire magazine collection and make grabbing page grabs for Twitter much easier. Yes I'm that cool, and yes it looks awesome.

Why do I use AI? The cost isn’t huge and they make the difference between “there’s a thing I’d like to build but I have no time and I can’t be arsed” and “ooh here’s something in my life that annoys me, I’ll build a tool for that” - seems a worthwhile investment.

My children will not have phones. Phones are poison and we all know it. They are poison because there are suited only to consumption, their size makes it a requirement to focus on them, the content ecosystem is full of dark patterns to make them addicted and there is an entire
I confess I was not totally convinced that the phone bans would work, but early evidence suggests a total @JonHaidt victory

Well I didn’t see that coming. 250 followers for me and my silly Atari ST nonsense. No idea why anyone bothers reading all my shite but it’s very kind of you to do so.

So X just added a new thing, in creator studio, a tab euphemistically called 'Inspiration'. Here is my summary of it.

Oh god I just read that back and it looks like fucking AI. I swear I wrote it (I disclose my image use and deliberately make them absurd enough to be obvious - I do not use AI for text because it gives me the ick).

Thankfully Amiga Format did a much better job. Tbh I had a blast playing it as a kid - my parents used to complain so much about me playing it. One time my dad nicked the ST’s power cable so I cut the plugs off everything he owned. I was a challenging child. So, Player Manager or

Not quite sure why ST Format gave it quite such a perfunctory review - shoved in a mass review of football games. Perhaps they were just fed up of the glut of them in the run up to Italia 90.

🧵 Some people think Sensible Soccer is the best football game. Those people are wrong. Player Msnager is the best football game, combining Kick Off with a brilliant management game. On the Atari ST nothing else comes close. Excuse crappy AI.

I’ve seen a few posts like this and it’s simply not true. Opus and Codex and the likes are great, but their best value comes when you’re architecting and giving them very clear guidance on what you want. To do so you need experience and good taste in code. In a Vue project it’ll
Experience no longer really matters in software engineering. Opus 4.5 basically levelled the playing field. Jesus - 10 years of my life were for nothing
