So there’s no money to give teachers a fair compensation and make classes more manageable, but Smith and the UCP are going to provide families with $150 a week PER CHILD under 12 for the duration of a strike? Make the math math please

The entire time during Covid, conservatives and quacks like @AdrianaLaGrange told us kids being in school was of the upmost importance. But I guess not important enough to even make a remotely decent offer to teachers.

The UCP is willing to spend millions of dollars A DAY to fight against better classroom conditions. How many EAs could they hire a year for even a week of strike - I bet it’s more than the 1500 EAs they offered. This isn’t about budget -it’s about power and spite. #AbLeg

With all the ridiculous bashing of teachers and the teachers union out in Alberta for talking about striking, I feel the need to address a few sensical things about the entire entitlement of ganging up on educators online. Allow me to plot out a logical path here. /1

Lets rundown what the UCP have done for teachers and students: - changed the curriculum against the expertise of many bipartisan educators - Banned cell phone use for students, leaving teachers to have to enforce it - Eliminated any public health safety measures /1 #ableg #abed

There are at least 300K children in gr. K-6 in Alberta (based on 288,883 in 2020) UCP is going to pay $30/day for each of them for childcare during the teacher’s strike. $9 million a day. 90 top of the grid teacher salaries a DAY. The cost of a brand new school per WEEK. #abed

Alberta students are funded at a rate of $3.57 per day(Source: Alberta Teachers Association).Can you imagine what elementary schools could do with $30 per student per day?There are approximately 412,500 students under the age of 12.$30 per day,that works out to $12,375,000/day.
