Delighted to publish a chapter of my PhD thesis, suggesting that #IMTA could potentially be used as an #ecosystemservice rather than just a bio-mitigation mechanism.

After a very interesting and challenging viva at @StirlingScience I managed to get my PhD with minor corrections ! Thesis was perceived well, offering a holistic view on #IMTA spatial challenges and opportunities. Thanks @tapas_h2020 for the opportunity.

Why do I personally work in fisheries science? At the end of undergrad I felt like my choice was between very interesting (but theoretical) work on mole rats, or modeling fisheries. A good friend asked me: "How can you justify working on mole rats to the public"? 1/n

Site selection / suitability modeling has been part of #GIS for decades, but this by far the biggest advance: a fully interactive dashboard of linked maps, graphs, and weights.

Very interesting approach explaining Italy's abnormal mortality rates. Don't get me wrong but in the midst of this horrible situation, epidemiologists, sociologists, virologists etc, have access to a fountain of data ready to be processed and analysed the upcoming years.

@christianbaye13 & me have been thinking about the big differences in mortality rates so far during the corona outbreak in Europe. The differences in case-fatality rates are humongous. Italy has one of 6% while countries like Norway, Denmark & Germany have rates still close to 0.
