Aftermath of the fire last week in the Addu Eco Garden. 10+ Ha burnt and the fire nearly reached the houses!. Regular images can be very helpful to see if/how the area recovers over time.
Meedhoo Eco Garden in Addu, before and after the fire that occurred on the 19th of March 2025. The incident appears to have burnt approximately 10 Hectares of the wetland, with the fire stopping just before reaching the road and houses located to the north of the Eco Garden. 1/3

The #reefballs have successfully encouraged the formation of a #beach when there was none before. Over the next few years the material of the reef balls will encourage growth of marine life on it, causing it to blend into the #environment and forming an 'natural' #breakwater
Currently involved in a shore protection project where we're use #reefballs instead of traditional armour rock to construct a breakwater. The concept is to use the reefballs to dissipate wave energy and at the same time facilitate growth of #coral to improve marine life.
