Just remember when you vote ,there's been no #Austerity in the UK since the 1940s .Our macroeconomic problems stem from the failure of successive Govs to balance the budget! Vote for those who promise less ,tax less & interfere less #Austeritymyarse

🚨Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg says Tories should seriously consider voting Reform in the Caerphilly by-election. He argues it’s clear neither the Tories nor Labour can win there (when was the last time that happened!), and the Union is too important. Jacob is a deeply honourable man.

Yes this is true ! Alas @BorisJohnson allowed dependents because @hmtreasury convinced him that there would be continued inflation caused by supply-chain issues . Utter bollocks ,Keynesian theory gone mad
This is really something. Boris basically saying the treasury pushed for what has become known as the ‘Boriswave’ because of inflationary wage pressures. In other words, net migration of 900k in one year to stop wage growth.

No it's painful enough !
Starmer bad, not socialist enough, communist blah blah The largest real terms increase to public spending in 25 years, Sure Start, social housing, free childcare, workers rights, renters rights, Hillsborough law, student grants, 1,000 more GPs, nationalising rail, homes for

This is true apart from the #TINO trying to control spending . They didn't . It was labeled "Austerity" when it wasn't #AusterityMyArse
Most of my followers are old like me so they know this. So this isn’t for you. But for any youngsters, this is how UK politics works: 1: Labour spend money like it’s going out of fashion. They give money for everything. But eventually they get thrown out of power as they

So the problem is the cost of people who could work but are on the sick , so we're going to spend more on advising people what jobs they could do ? Here's an idea ,tell the GPs to raise the criteria of what is required to go on the sick ? You're welcome
We're putting job advisors into GP surgeries across England & Wales as part of our #PlanforChange to help more sick & disabled people into work. It's time to stop treating health & work in isolation. That's why we've announced an extra £167 million investment in #ConnecttoWork

I love when the private sector has slower wage growth than the public sector while productivity is on its knees. Love that for the uk.
UK wage inflation (quarter to Aug '25): Regular pay +4.7% y-o-y (previous 4.8%); +0.9% in real terms (using CPI) Pay w. bonuses +5.0% y-o-y (previous 4.7%); +0.8% real Public sector 6.0% (5.6%) - pushed higher by base effects, says ONS Private 4.4% (4.7%) (both ex-bonuses)

IMF downgrades UK growth and warns inflation will be highest in G7 https://t.co/4NPYCTwiJR As normal the #IMF are wrong on more or less everything barring our slow growth

In its World Economic Outlook report, the IMF has said that UK inflation will remain higher than the likes of Italy and the United States.

Who could have guessed that a state mandated insulation scheme would be a total failure? Scrapping the scheme will cut energy bills.

Unlikely to be an IMF bailout , but the #BondVigilantes will force Austerity on this government , sooner or later .
NEW: Britain heading for IMF warns Sir Mark Thatcher in an “upside down world” “My mother used to believe very strongly that one should make a contribution to our society… before they should be permitted or allowed to draw upon the benefits of being a member…”

Great Thread ! #AusterityMyArse
Taxes are at a 70 year high and the government is borrowing £100-150 billion a year, so why does nothing seem to work and why is Rachel Reeves going to raise taxes again? 🧵

What can be done? While there are doubtless efficiency savings to be made in some departments, trimming the fat at, for example, DCMS will only make a small difference. There's nothing we can do about the debt interest (although we could stop adding to the debt). It would be nice

🤣🤣🤣🤣 , they're all out today
Today marks 100 years since the birth of Margaret Thatcher. Among her legacies: the Right to Buy scheme — one of the most damaging privatisations in modern history that has fuelled today’s housing crisis. #MargaretThatcher #RightToBuy
