Not only would it signal AMD's commitment to the open source community and projects but it could also improve the uptake and number of games that implement FSR4 due to the open source nature possibly cutting out corporate red tape for getting approval for integrating FSR.

I hope that AMD realizes that it is in their best interest to follow through with their commitment to having FSR being an open source project and that they republish the repos with the full FSR4 model and weights under the MIT license.

Which is an irrevocable and fully permissive license. I am not a legal expert by any means but due to the code having the MIT license attached it is not likely that AMD will be able to claw back the code or have the 3rd party repos with the code taken down. .

AMD committed to FSR being an open source project that can be used and modified not just by the community but also by other companies such as ARM in their own upscaler technologies. The FSR4 code that was accidentally published on GitHub had the MIT license attached to it. .

So, I just got an update from @AMD and @GPUOpen about the FSR4 situation that occurred yesterday (8/20/25) with FSR4's Github repo debacle. AMD's Official Statement:.Some of our development code was posted on GPUOpen GitHub in error. It has since been taken down.

So as someone that has written LA64 assembly, it is very similar to MIPS which shouldn't shock anyone because Loongson used to make MIPS CPU before transitioning to LA64 with the 3A5000 series. Also, that ISA manual that is linked doesn't have the vector instructions. .

The West has a blindspot when it comes to alternative CPU designs. We’re so entrenched in the usual x86, ARM, RISC-V world, that most people have no idea what’s happening over in China. LoongArch is a fully independent ISA that’s sorta MIPS…sorta RISC-V…and sorta x87!

I mentioned this on today's Tech Poutine but now redirects to the @anandtech forums. I guess this is the formal end of Anandtech beyond just the forums. Time to pour one last one out folks. May history never forget the name Anandtech.

It's interesting that Intel is going to a 2 core per L2 schema for DMR. I wonder what tradeoffs this will bring for Intel. .

It fits the overall picture, according to the 58th ISA Ext Guide, in DMR 2 cores will use one L2 cache. (58th ISA Ext Guide calls #Intel #DiamondRapids 5th generation Xeon due to some mistake).#DCM = dual core module

Uhhh. N. No?.This image isn't from JWST, this image is from the VLT in Chile. And this image isn't of HR 8799, it's of TYC 8998-760-1 AKA YSES 1. which is about 310 lightyears away. .

@lybrti @MAstronomers @AskPerplexity It's the real JWST NIRCam image of the HR 8799 system—four gas giants orbiting a young star 129 light-years away. Captured using coronagraphy to block the star's glare and detect the planets' infrared glow. Not AI, though the "first ever" claim is hype; this system's been imaged.

Just learned Costco uses IBM AS/400 (released in 1988). They're basically bulletproof. Name 1 ransomware variant, or information stealer, designed for systems from 1988 (you can't, it doesn't exist). Chat, we're Costco guys 🤝.

Yeah, no this doesn't even make sense from the get go. GDDR6W wouldn't add capacity because it's just 2 2GB (4GB) GDDR6 dies in a single 64b package instead of 1 2GB GDDR6 die in a 32b package. That means the max number of G6W packages a 4090 can support is 12; 12x4GB = 48GB.

We batted around the idea on a prior Tech Poutine about if Intel should cut their losses in the DC AI space and I said "Wait for Falcon Shores". Well. FCS is now Internal only with no timeline for Jaguar Shores. This may be a hot take but IMO Intel should cut their losses now.
