With the finance and #econjobmarket underway again, I'm flagging this tool I created to track applications, interviews, flyouts, reimbursements, and offers. Hope this helps take away some of the organizational burden!

More DID stuff, re: parallel trends. If you have two pre-treatment periods there are various equiv ways to test for pre-trends. Here are three (no controls): 1. Regress cy2 = y2 - y1 on 1, d using t = 2; obtain t test on d. This is a standard placebo test. #metricstotheface

#EconAdvice Three questions from a PhD student in India: 1. I wonder how to get a swift entry into @ISBedu, without having a proper international Ph.D. degree. Can you guide me through this?

Being a first gen student is this dialectic of having your family emotionally praise & celebrate every aspect of your career, while they also don’t get how much of academia is rejection, so when you succeed they take it as a given because to them you are the brightest out there.

@cameron_pfiffer Honestly, I think cultivating the ability to go without any praise or positive feedback for months or even years is important. It’s very hard to do this job unless you’ve decided you just like doing the work and don’t care too much what others think.

I often tell prospective PhD students that success in many PhD programs isn't about being a bright and beautiful flower. It's about being like slime mold, able to persevere and thrive without attention, water, or light.
