Exciting news! We, students from MIT/Harvard Economics, have launched Round 2 of the App Assistance and Mentoring Program (AAMP). We seek to increase the pipeline of diverse talent in econ PhD and welcome participation from all groups underrepresented in economics! A thread 1/7

Finally, thanks to @DomRussel and @jun_wong97 for being the best co-organizers I could've asked for! It was a lot of work to pull this off, but thanks to you two it was a blast.

The workshop wouldn't have been possible without support from @BITSS and @predoc_org. The folks at PREDOC in particular were instrumental in getting all of the logistics figured out and were just a pleasure to work with.

And of course, thanks to our participants. It was a privilege to be a part of your journeys, and I'm confident that I'll be seeing many of your names on papers in the coming years!

We're grateful for our incredible mentors (@ArkeyBarnett, @ariboyarsky, @KameliaStavreva, @_perezalan_, @angus_lewis_, @IsaacNorwich, @miss_kaylajones, @SeabassDoor + others not on Twitter), who helped give participants hands-on experience with a Stata coding task.

Many thanks also to the senior researchers (including @rtoseland, @aviceisza, @fhoces, @aljosephson, and @jdmichler) who spoke about not just pre-doc jobs, but also research transparency and responsible practices.

One highlight for me was the fantastic current pre-docs (some pictured above) who shared their insights with us. It was such a pleasure to learn from @miss_kaylajones , @prashansa_25 , @SeabassDoor , @ENPancotti , @MyeraRashid, @moriahlmacklin, and our other RA panelists.

This weekend, @DomRussel, @jun_wong97, and I hosted the 2021 Pre-doctoral Research in Economics Workshop! There's a big appetite for more info on pre-docs (we had 450+ applicants and 250+ attendees), and I was glad we could play a role in broadening access to these jobs.

Undergrads, get these free LaTeX skills! Useful not just for math but for economics too (i.e., problem sets, papers, and Beamer presentations)!
