STATEMENT: Democracy & Equality in Streatham & Lambeth #StreathamLabour will vote on a motion to scrap AMMs tomorrow. We support AMMs and think that a return to the delegate system undermines equality. Our statement explains why. https://t.co/ADPe3Evv6K

The treatment of Diane Abbott, our country's first black MP, is deplorable. @AkanKwaku (aka Esheru) exposes five distinct types of abuse she's suffered at the hands of Westminster and the media. #DianeAbbott #BrownWashing

Went to Palestine Camp at SOAS. Students held a moving tribute to journalist Shireen Abu Alekh on anniversary of her murder by IDF. I attended her commemoration service 2 years ago as Secretary of the NUJ Parliamentary Group. Now 140 journalists bern killed in Gaza since October.

Two years ago, journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was killed by Israel. No one has been held to account. Without justice there can be no peace. They kill journalists because they don’t want you to know the truth.

In 2019, the Tories promised to recruit 50,000 nurses. How’s that going? Nursing vacancies in 2019: 43,452 Nursing vacancies in 2024: 43,339 About as well as any other Tory manifesto pledge. #NursesDay

Remembering the great John Smith today, 30 years on from his passing. He was - and is - an inspiration to us all. Flowers laid by my friend @michaeljmarra at his commemorative bust in the Scottish Parliament.

Two years ago today, iconic Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was murdered by the Israeli state. They then lied and lied about it, waited for attention to move on, before admitting it months later. Don’t forget her, don’t forget how Israel lies about its crimes

On #NursesDay we celebrate the NHS nurses working under incredible strain to keep us healthy. Nurses are the backbone of our health service. With 40,000+ nursing vacancies across the NHS, our government needs to start acting like it.

Israel's deliberate starvation of Gaza is a war crime. Today I told the Government that if it now refuses to fund UNRWA, it will be aiding and abetting Israel's war crimes.

Without trade unions we wouldn't have: • Annual leave • Sick pay • A two day weekend • Maternity leave • Protection from workplace discrimination • 8 hour working days • Redundancy pay • A minimum wage • Health and safety in the workplace • Workplace pensions
