Living as a disabled person in London will cost you an extra £1,469 a month on average. Yesterday, I spoke out against plans to slash disability benefits, removing vital support from my constituents.

Conflating non-violent direct action with terrorism intended to cause loss of life sets a dangerous new precedent. My statement on this week's Palestine Action proscription vote (before it becomes a criminal offence) 👇🏾.

This week, I hosted a @CPA_Secretariat delegation of Ghanaian MPs in Brixton, touring the @bcaheritage and visiting @MayorLBLambeth at Lambeth Town Hall. Great to discuss the challenges facing our constituents in the UK and Ghana and share ideas for tackling them.

Deeply outraged by the vicious vandalism of portraits honouring our Windrush pioneers in Windrush Square. This vile act is an attack on our community. It will be profoundly upsetting for those featured in the exhibition.

100% of businesses involved in the latest 4-day week pilot are sticking with it. A 4-day week can be a win-win for workers and employers alike, improving productivity and reducing burnout. We should be looking to roll it out on a greater scale.

Yesterday, women MPs celebrated 97 years since women won equal voting rights in the UK. We would not be in Parliament without the Suffragettes' direct action. Hours later, many of the same MPs lined up to proscribe a direct action group trying to stop a genocide.

Proscribing Palestine Action conflates direct action to resist an ongoing genocide with terrorism intended to harm innocent people. It debases the definition of terrorism and threatens our right to protest, dissent, and speak out against injustice, particularly on Gaza.

Tonight in Parliament, I voted against legislation proscribing Palestine Action as terrorists, acting as a teller for the noes. Instead of ending UK support for a foreign power committing genocide in Gaza, the government is cracking down on people taking a stand against it.

Tonight, I voted against cutting disability benefits and for the reasoned amendment to throw these cuts out. The 11th-hour u-turn on PIP is welcome but this legislation is a mess. It will still remove billions of lifeline financial support from new sick & disabled UC claimants.

This legislation will have life-altering consequences for disabled people. Briefing last-minute changes without time to debate, scrutinise and consider the effects shows desperation to rush it through and disregard for those impacted. Even now, we still have time to scrap it.

The government's disability benefit cuts will remove vital support from people who rely on it, forcing many into poverty and creating a two-tier system. I will be voting against them. We were elected to support people, not to cut support from those who need it most.
