Mel Stride lied to Parliament and even now hides behind the immunity from prosecution (which MPs all enjoy) while breaching his oath of office to the Crown. He should be in prison. lf the law were applied, he would be - for multiple cases of manslaughter (collateral damage).

@gregwrightYP @loanchargeAPPG @LCAG_2019 The root of the loan charge started with IR35 legislation peddled by the last Labour government. It too did not understand the self-employed and wasn’t interested in understanding people that chose to work for themselves. It cracked down, gave rise to a whole cottage industry

And the promised INDEPENDENT #loancharge review which was anything but. We're not looking for ways to pay, we're looking to see EVERYONE who has a hand in this mess to be held to account and pay their FAIR SHARE.

Winter fuel, the welfare cuts, now IHT changes - HM Treasury caused a lot of pain for little gain in the first year of the Starmer ministry

@BBCEmmaSimpson At the very least, @fujitsu_uk would appear to be criminally complicit in prosecuting the Postmasters. Furthermore, what did our amoral political class know? A transparent timeline needs establishing and full accountability seen to be done. @DailyMail https://t.co/PAhMc1xcgP

Capitalism isn’t perfect. Sometimes it results in unequal distribution of wealth. Socialism on the other hand always ensures the equal distribution of poverty.

It is not necessarily what the lead reviewers do or don't do with it, but how HMT and/or HMRC get to fiddle with Terms of Reference, final report and recommendations, which have repeatedly given rise to concerns

@dontdelay Sorry, but the world of politics is full of badly informed people whose most dangerous characteristic is their unshakeable faith in their own "goodness". Going way too easy on that "be kind" mentality is a big part of the reason we're in the state we're in now.

Today is the anniversary of 1st Dec, 2022, when, as I was grieving the sudden loss of my younger sister, a friend told me that HMRC had published my name and home address on their online 'name and shame' list of tax frauds (Publishing Details of Deliberate Defaulters). In a case

🚨 #LoanChargeScandal latest: More on #HMRC’s 15% deals with large corporations. Ray McCann, who was working for HMRC at the time states that the deal was 2005 with big banks. The Treasury is refusing to admit this. Ministers are engaged in a cover-up. https://t.co/rRplryFC3C

This is typical of the way the Treasury hasn’t been honest about the supposedly ‘independent’ review into loan charge settlement terms (not the #LoanCharge). No mention that Ray McCann is a former Asst Director of HMRC! Nor that he was there when the big banks settled for 10-15%.
