Upside down! Our latest in situ cryo-ET work shows how cytosolic ribosomes bind mitochondria via their SSU as an adaptive response to cellular stress. A great collaboration with @jomaa_lab! #TeamTomo @embl @EmblImaging.
Want to know what happens when mitochondria get stressed? Check our latest pre-print with @SimoneMattei19 lab on how mitochondria tether hibernating ribosomes as an adaptive response to glucose depletion in yeast!.#teamtomo #cryoEM #ribosomes #mitochondria

It’s great to see our hibernating ribosomes story finally out @NatureComms! Thanks to @jomaa_lab @MedicineUVA and all @EMBL and @EmblImaging people that supported this project.
Happy to share our little discovery with @SimoneMattei19 team on how ribosomes hibernate upside down on mitochondria during cellular stress is now out @NatureComms! A collaboration between @medicineUVA, @EMBL, @EmblImaging, MEMC. Congrats to all authors!
