Cholera is an endemic disease in Bangladesh. Typhoid is an endemic disease in Nepal. Rabies is endemic in Indonesia. That just means there’s a constant backdrop of disease and death from these pathogens. Endemic ≠ no problem

"Long-termism"/"effective altruism" is a propaganda gift to the ultra-rich. It downgrades the massive current problems they've caused and repositions them as the heroes who will solve distant and entirely hypothetical problems. No wonder they have thrown so much money at it.
