The fee proposed for eye care in special schools doesn’t reflect the success & outcomes of the proven model" - Lisa Donaldson. The service is vital for vulnerable children who’d otherwise go without care or face overwhelmed hospital services.

Great @SchoolsWeek report on current fears for NHS special schools eye care service. We're glad @SKinnock recognises the potential. This will only be fulfilled by maintaining the existing model and funding to provide ongoing care & glasses support.

News of yet another commission on social care (due 2028) is no comfort for either those who rely on or deliver support. We already know most of the answers but, due to the Autumn budget, the critical funding question will need an answer long before 2028.

Just last month we were delighted to host Minister @SKinnock to see our eye care work in action delivering some of the big shifts in NHS care. However NHS changes and cuts to funding to the special schools eye care service risk undoing this good work.

And we have signed and support this  @LGAcomms statement, calling for government to work with people in social care and invest in it – with councils, providers and charities unable to fund the Autumn budget costs. #FutureOfASC

Insightful analysis @VODGmembership & @Cordisbright on the often overlooked side of social care by charities and the impact of the Autumn Budget. Our CEO @LIsaHopkins01 warns of the impact on people who rely on social care support.

We believe everyone deserves a good home to live in. But cuts to social care would threaten the support people need to live independently. We’re calling for better housing options so people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss can thrive.

When Caroline faced a terminal cancer diagnosis, doctors said there was no hope due to her learning disability. But her support workers, fought for her voice & treatment. Cuts to social care would deny people like Caroline the support they need.
