Over 80% of ER visits do NOT result in an admission. This is just a way to shift cost to the patient when the reality is the health care system is so broken we’re the only place that can satisfy a patient’s needs

Just got a notice that my employer is implementing a new $200 copayment for ED visits that don't end in a hospital admission (in addition to existing 10%/20% post-deductible coinsurance) citing increasing costs particularly freestanding emergency rooms...
