Nah. I love January Jones but part of the reason she was perfect as childish and tense Betty is because she has very limited range as an actress.

even in this scene, january perfectly conveys how checked out, tired and childish betty is from her facial expressions to her tone of voice. hamm is celebrated for his acting in this show and january is able to match his performance but sure she’s bad actress.

analyzing thought patterns generally requires some type of visual metaphor. one of my favorites is that certain concepts or events are the equivalent of releasing a few drops of ink into a clear tank of water. in its default state, the water is clear, it looks like it’s doing

Talked to elite school admissions officer Said every boy from east coast: 1. Does robotics 2. Has some NGO (in Asia typically) they did work with 3. Built a startup Said they're all indistinguishable from each other

Judge Posner's 2003 book review of a Justice Douglas biography, "Wild Bill," caused a stir in the legal nerd world back then. It's not your typical judge-writing-about-a-Justice thing, to put it mildly. If you've never read it, you can do so here: https://t.co/zf24gckPuB

Might be a good thing, in the long run. The only way to get us truly offline is if we know beyond a doubt that we cannot distinguish between real and unreal (we already can’t, but we don’t yet deeply feel this).

I interviewed L.A. Mayor Karen Bass about fires, ICE, Trump/Mamdani, LAUSD’s empty buildings, Angela Davis/Cuba, and fundamental disagreements on land-use regulation.

The current Charles Murray versus gutter-right dialog is highlighting the increasing gap between actual properly adjusted and functional Americans and "internet people". "kill rape and die for Nick Fuentes" does not land for actual people and "it's a joke" doesn't change this.

This was always going to be her path. Her unique mix of beauty, assertiveness, and aggressive ignorance was destined to bring her fame and fortune. Now she completes her arc: high on her own false insight and made delirious. I hope she and her family find peace.

I have informed people in the Federal government and the White House of the France and Israeli assassination plot and am willing to provide full details, as well as the name of the assassins and international accounts in France and Canada through which money was exchanged.

I’m sure you all remember Avery Jackson, the “trans girl” who, at 9, was on the cover of National Geographic. Avery was given the gold standard in gender affirming care: he was chemically castrated and sterilized with Lupron - a medication usually prescribed to castrate sex

India has struggled in every international sport except cricket. And I've yet to read a decent explanation of why that is. Pakistan and Bangladesh also punch well below their weight in non-cricket sports, including soccer/football and Olympic sports. Why is this?

This is the book I’ve found most clarifying on the subject of American Creed. I find myself referring back to it quite a bit lately.

i'm curious for those who believe america is a "creedal" nation if you can define what exactly that creed is and how its enforced and if you dont believe that, if you can define what an "american" even is this idea space seems crammed with defunct ideas and expedient slogans

Why are so many slurs food based? Is anyone insulted when you call them a ‘mayo’? Why would they be? It tastes good? The whole thing is baffling.

The Americans of the 1910's and 1920's were also acutely aware of Italian organized criminality as a problem for America a large part of whose resolution was the shutdown of immigration from Southern and Eastern Europe for forty years. "It all worked out OK" -- after 40 years

Poor James, he’s not bright enough to realize that “liberal individualism means you can’t criticize Somalis because of your genetic ancestry” is hopelessly incoherent. The answer is simple: the Italian mafia was a moral problem that Italian-Americans, in particular, had a duty
