Children are anxious. Parents are stressed. Birthrates are at record lows. The problem is our family unfriendly culture. Parenting culture is too intense. Mating & Dating culture is dysfunctional. And our values are too individualistic. So I wrote a book.

I remember this level in Quake.
When the Obama Presidential Center opens next year, it will be a hub for change — a place for people from all over the world to come together, get inspired, and take what they learn back to their own communities. https://t.co/gW6UCYBCAJ

A judge dismissed a charge against a senior Fairfax County prosecutor found drinking in public in early August, according to court records accessed on Thursday

I address this very common assertion in Family Unfriendly . It’s not imaginary. It’s also not really about weather. Or climate.
🚨 Kamala Harris Says Gen Z is Afraid to Have Kids Because of ‘Climate Anxiety’ “They're experiencing what they've coined ‘climate anxiety’, which is their fear that because of changes in extreme weather, the future of their lives is very much at stake.”

I am reading “What are children for” by @rachelcwiseman and @a_n_a_berg, and finding myself edified, annoyed, and challenged, again and again. Next Tuesday at AEI, Berg will talk about the book, and I’ll get to ask her questions. Join us.

Looking back, Barack Obama's decision to fix Obamacare's flaws without Congress may be seen as a historical watershed. U.S. House of Representatives v. Burwell is much too little-known. Great discussion in a new piece @thehill by my @AEI colleague @ChrisStirewalt.

In my book I found multiple papers that claimed to find a "motherhood penalty at work" which, when I read the study findings, I realized they were really describing moms deciding they valued parenthood over their wage labor.
If I could teach journalists one thing, it would be that you have to actually read papers and you can't trust authors to describe them accurately.

If you had to guess, in the majors, who has a better record: Teams up 4-0 after 1 inning. or Teams up 4-0 after 4 innings.

An angle I hadn't realized until right now: They're sterilizing the mildly disabled. There's a history to that.
🚨 27% of people seeking help at the Amsterdam gender clinic have a (mild) intellectual disability No one is asking why, all that matters is they are ‘affirmed’ in line with their (compromised) level of understanding This is an industry that preys on the most vulnerable

What does accountability mean in this context if he’s still running and essentially no one on the left has asked him to do otherwise?
On the debate stage tonight, Jones uses opening statement to address texting scandal “I am ashamed. I am embarrassed. And I am sorry.” He apologized to Gilbert’s family, his own family, & Virginia. Says he “can’t take back” what he said but will take accountability

The below response is a typical one. Bernard O'Donnell believes that assaulting a Republican gathering is okay, because he believes that a Republican gathering is de facto a fascist gathering.

Let's not bicker and argue about who had murderous fantasies about who
Virginia Democrat Jay Jones on the texts messages he sent fantasizing about murdering a Republican delegate and his young children: “Now, tonight...you’re also gonna hear from my opponent about text messages that I sent that I deeply, deeply regret. Let me be very clear: I am

RD is correct. Need political leadership willing to stand up to tech oligarchs
It’s starting to be a big issue around the country because in areas with hyperscale data centers, electricity rates have increased by more than 250%. The thing is that, post-build out, these centers employ only a handful of people so there isn’t a major ongoing economic benefit

.@PillarCatholic is pledging to “to pay 75% of all employee family adoption costs and of the costs for all fertility treatment undertaken in accord with the doctrine of the Church.” And is asking dioceses/Catholic businesses to do the same for their employees.
Today @canonlawyered and I made a commitment. And, seriously, you should too: https://t.co/Ewsp7aBv94

Last night at a debate in Chicago, my brother John @carney turned to the camera and told Trump he was wrong to support universal IVF . Today Trump dropped his call for IVF subsidies. Well done, bro.
"The White House will not be providing any subsidies for employers that offer the coverage, and there will be no mandate that they participate." The White House's IVF report to offer guidance around a infertility-only medical insurance option, like vision or dental

Here’s another reason to suspect the baby bust is more of a cultural thing than an economic thing: Atheists are the ones having the fewest babies, even though they have the most money. https://t.co/78ETLJiJLS

Atheists are richer than Christians, and yet have far fewer children at all ages. This tells us something about the baby bust.
