This matters. The fact that Labour supporting @guardian is scathing about the move tells you everything you need to know. First @UKLabour cancel elections that don’t suit it politically and now cancel a media briefing that is part of the scrutiny, checks and balances. Outrageous

Nearly every week now lacklustre @KemiBadenoch is losing MPs, Lords, Councillors and donors. I get there is a social media effort to make out she is doing well; but if she were doing well, we wouldn’t be witnessing this. Reform v @UKLabour will be the choice in future years.

Shenanigans indeed. @afneil tweeting that @UKLabour is now so unpopular that it won’t have any MPs or councillors at the next elections. Wait @UKLabour are cancelling elections and trying by to shut down debate in Town Halls… acts worthy of any authoritarian state.

Conservative councillors 💙 won this motion for the people of #Colchester. Some @ColchesterLab councillors shamefully tried to stop the debate. But they failed! We won. Local elections 🗳️ in Essex and across the UK in May 2026 when they are due and not a day later.
Looking forward to tabling our motion that all 2026 scheduled local elections must go ahead this evening at @yourcolchester. Hope it gets unanimous support and demonstrates that CCC Councillors back the democratic principle.

My advice to the Chancellor and the Treasury is that they refuse to accept this resignation. It is clearly honourable for Richard Hughes to offer it. But it is not in the public interest for him to stand aside.

Reports suggest it wasn’t just Reeves who sold her Benefits Street Budget on a lie.. it was the PM too. These are very serious allegations. On @bbclaurak today, I’ll set out why Reeves must be sacked & why the only way to growth is to cut spending, cut taxes & back business.
