The Labour mood around Keir Starmer is becoming worse. @BethRigby describes it as being like ‘a fog’ that 'is not lifting’, while @RuthDavidsonPC describes Keir as a ‘political dud’ in this week’s episode of Electoral Dysfunction You can listen wherever you get your podcasts 🔽

Brilliant work from @DogsTrust, 2,400 Christmas gift parcels full of collars, coats, leads and treats will be delivered to people experiencing homelessness and their dogs. Because no one should have to choose between a safe place and their furry family. 🎁❤️

Oh, this will be worth a listen. @mattforde is consistently brilliant.
I’m delighted to be hosting a brand-new podcast for @talkSPORT. ‘How To Win The World Cup’ uncovers the secrets, strategies, and stories that go into lifting sport's biggest trophy. Ep 1 features Emmanuel Petit and Henning Wehn. One has won the World Cup. Both are hilarious.

Very clear thread on why Starmer and Reeves continue to be completely at it in claiming the OBR productivity downgrade prompted the need for tax rises. They either spun or lied (depending on your take) what they were told, got caught out, and are now doubling down. Madness.
The PM keeps repeating the figure £16bn in relation to the OBR's latest forecasts - giving the impression that this would have left a big hole in the public finances. What he fails to acknowledge is that that this is LITERALLY ONLY ONE PART OF THE STORY. Here's why...

This is so utterly, unarguably true.
There will be people who think this is deeply unfair, but it can’t be avoided anymore. You cannot do politics like this now - going on the radio or TV and using a clever form of words to avoid saying the thing you think will end your career. It doesn’t work and it hasn’t worked

How can we ‘believe’ Labour after they U-turned on their promise to not raise taxes for working people in Wednesday’s budget announcement? @RuthDavidsonPC asks @HarrietHarman in this week’s episode of Electoral Dysfunction 🔽

The PM and Chancellor rolled the pitch for big tax rises by telling the public there was a massive black hole in the nation's funding. All the time they were doing this, they **KNEW** it wasn't true, but did it anyway. Bloody hell.
BREAKING The OBR says it informed Rachel Reeves as far back as ***September 17*** that the downgrade in productivity forecasts was offset by 'increases in real wages and inflation'. The deficit was in fact just £2.5billion By October 31 that deficit had turned into net positive

Step back and this is the big picture politically... Labour promised £8.5bn of tax rises in their manifesto at the 2024 general election and no massive hike. Scroll on 16 months and taxes have been increased £66bn across Rachel Reeves's two Budgets. That is more than seven

Much of the budget and OBR report are very difficult reading for Labour MPs and voters: - Living standards rise more slowly than expected - Growth is downgraded - Inflation up - Tax burden hits an all time high - And the welfare bill is still soaring https://t.co/Cb2BKSY6G7

Sound advice from David Lammy to David Lammy
Jury trials are a fundamental part of our democratic settlement. Criminal trials without juries are a bad idea. The Government need to pull their finger out and acquire empty public buildings across the country to make sure these can happen in a way that is safe.
