💬 Viewpoint: Robotic surgery has rapidly become the default platform in US surgical training, but widespread adoption may erode core laparoscopic skills essential for safe, adaptable care. https://t.co/bsuzvf0KfZ

Did a marathon with my daughter today. She crushed me. My times continue to decrease yearly. & that’s okay. Because at some point, running stops being about speed. It’s about showing up. About moving, aging, and still doing the thing you love. You don’t beat time. You run with it

As a woman in surgery, I’ve been told there are things I “can’t” do. But strength isn’t defined by size or strength, it’s defined by adaptability, creativity, and endurance. We find ways to make it work, to hold that retractor, to maintain perfect posture for hours.

In med school, I learned that Huntington's disease was one of the most devastating inherited conditions. It caused progressive neurological decline, starting around age 30. There was no treatment. Now, Huntington's has been treated for first time. This is why we fund science.
