The strategy from Twitter, Facebook, and ByteDance is simple. To make those of us who disagree with the rule of the oligarchs feel like we are alone. But we are not alone. And it is our duty to make sure that we do not let our compatriots think they are alone…

A lot going on right now, but I have a feeling we will look back in a year and realize this was the most important story published this week.

Yikes: Trump’s tariffs are costing small businesses billions of dollars.
"Out of more than 240,000 U.S. importers in 2023, 97 percent, or 236,000, were small businesses... the annual tariff cost for U.S. small businesses is likely between $85.2–$99.6 billion." @JJensen2020

This isn’t anywhere near enough. Trump has to fire him immediately.
I will be withdrawing myself from Thursday’s HSGAC hearing to lead the Office of Special Counsel because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time. I appreciate the overwhelming support that I have received throughout this process and will continue to

"Reduce annual growth from 2.5% to 2%". I think this is a good way of thinking about it - it's not a policy that will causes you to see big day to day, or even year to year differences in your life. But in 50 years your grandchildren will be 20% poorer.

The good news for Paul Ingrassia is that his Nazi text story has distracted from his forcing a subordinate to stay in his hotel room story which had distracted from his advocacy for Andrew Tate which had distracted from his practicing law before he passed the bar

tfw you're an "expert" in health care
Ron Johnson: "Let's bring free market competition back into the healthcare industry. Let's bring back way more consumer choice. Rick Scott, an expert in healthcare, he's working with people like myself and the White House, let's design the Republican plan."

St. Jude reduced its budget by $150million because the White House blindly cut funding to children’s cancer research. #priorities
JUST IN: The White House has begun DEMOLISHING portions of the East Wing of the White House to build Trump’s $250 million ballroom — despite earlier claiming it wouldn’t “interfere” with the existing White House structure. (Washington Post)

Whenever stuff like this comes up, a *lot* of people like to claim it's just edgelord internet weirdos who have fringe views. This guy is nominated to lead the Office of the Special Counsel. At what point will the GOP seriously confront the moral rot in it?
EXCLUSIVE: Embattled Trump nominee Paul Ingrassia told Republicans that the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday should be “tossed into the seventh circle of hell” and that he has “a Nazi streak,” according to a group chat viewed by POLITICO. https://t.co/BHSud48VAh

I don't care if you think "no kings" is the right branding or not -- Trump *is* doing all these illegal things, Americans *should* be outraged, and it's good when abuses of power are met with protest and other forms of Constitutionally protected civic pushback.
Trump is — Raising taxes without congressional approval — Dispatching the national guard over governors’ objections — Canceling programs duly created by law — Firing prosecutors to gin up bogus cases against his opponents It’s reminiscent of George III’s abuses of power.

A common misconception is that the Dollar has been stable during the crazy rise in precious metals prices. That's not true. The Dollar is only flat because the Yen is down due to Takaichi's bashing of the BoJ. The Dollar is falling against all kinds of safe haven currencies...
