The dollar cost of tariffs is somewhere in the range of $85 billion (to date), with the number possibly being as large as $100 billion. That is real money, and the price tag continues to rise while small businesses bear the brunt. https://t.co/egnKjT18Fz

When some rando calls in Grok to correct you, and Grok instead ends up agreeing with you = truly one of modern life's simple pleasures.

There's a lot of downsides to the way Twitter works now, but when someone calls in Grok for support in an argument and Grok disagrees with them and they start arguing with Grok instead, it's extremely funny.

We tried to warn you. @JJensen2020 and I explained that tariffs would open avenues for rent seeking. Firms would leverage their position in the market to lobby for tariff exemptions or for tariffs to be applied. Link to our paper in the comments. From @politico

US-Argentina Trade News: President Trump said a free trade agreement with Argentina is possible & may happen soon. If this is a traditional FTA with virtually 0 tariff barriers, it would be a monumental move for the admin. Unlikely but interesting #Argentina #Trade #Tariff

Truck Tariff News: Just in case you thought the 25% tariff on medium and heavy trucks was announced for October 1, nope! The tariff is actually coming November 1! That explains the lack of an EO. Must have been an autocorrect issue or something. #Tariff #Trump #Truck

If every individual taxpayer receives a $1K to $2K tariff rebate, it'll cost $160-$320 billion. Rs also want additional aid to farmers ($35-$50 billion). In FY26, tariffs might bring in ~$180 billion. Taken together, it's plausible that tariffs increase the deficit in FY26!
