Also this week, Paul Lawrence, Chief Executive @Edinburgh_CC - the first council that will introduce a visitor levy - told us how it will enable investment across the city in areas like attractions and events. He said: "We would not be able to get that money from anywhere else."

This week we took evidence on issues facing tourism and hospitality sectors, and heard concerns about the visitor levy. @MCrothall, Chief Executive of @st_alliance said customers are "sharing a glass of wine or a bowl of soup" because "visitor spend is being really compromised."
