"You know what’s wrong with scientific power? It’s a form of inherited wealth. And you know what assholes congenitally rich people are." We're trying to do things differently in the Geosciences now. @SMothulatshipi @kalaharidave   https://t.co/W41AynYAIX via @ConversationUK

Scientists join their profession with the hope their research will benefit humanity. But many still inadvertently exploit local collaborators or communities as cheap labour.

In this experiment Dr Rob Thompson of @UniRdg_Met shows just how long it takes water to soak into parched ground, illustrating why heavy rainfall after a #drought can be dangerous and might lead to flashfloods. @R0b1et @UniRdg_water

First of 6 papers out in QSR, peeking into the lives of our ancestors who were lugging about silcrete on a salt-pan 75-thousand years ago in the #Makgadikgadi #Botswana. https://t.co/nEw7AMTuWR @davidjnash @kalaharidave @SMothulatshipi @LeverhulmeTrust #archaeology #palaeoclimate

It's great to see the new volume 'Landscapes and Landforms of Botswana' (edited by @fekarduct) now published. I really enjoyed writing my chapters on Kalahari dry valleys and calcrete/silcrete duricrusts, drawing together research developed since my PhD.

So, it takes me on average 4-5 hours to complete a review for a journal article... Am I just slow or is this everyone else too? 🥲

It is totally immoral that the Home Office is still applying normal visa restrictions to those fleeing Ukraine. The Government must urgently provide a simple sanctuary route to the UK for all who need it. This is our moral duty.
