Thank you for listening @AvantiWestCoast - issue satisfactorily resolved; so those with Standard Premium tickets are remaining in 1st class but not being offered the food/drink for 1st class pax

Hey @AvantiWestCoast you’re 2 cars down on the Liverpool Lime Street train. No Standard Premium car - so why can’t we either upgrade to 1st or sit in 1st but not receive “free” food & drink?

Fascinating interview with Barbara Castle champion of vital road safety legislation as SoS @transportgovuk in mid 1960s. She talks about death threats after ‘67 Road Traffic Act (seat belts/breathalyser/70mph) but celebrates evidence of lives saved! #InternationalWomensDay

Transport is the glue that holds communities together and enables people, particularly outside big towns and cities, to socialise, get to work or school, spend their money with local businesses & do much more. Really pleased to be launching this inquiry.

Today is White Ribbon Day. I know we need to do more to tackle the epidemic of violence against women & girls. I am committed to working locally with the police, council, schools and businesses to end this violence.

This new report shows the difference that free school meals have made in London. Over 9,000 children in Hounslow have benefited & the report showed both children & parents saw the positive benefits this brings.

Very important line here from @LouHaigh on road safety: "We treat road safety in a way as if it is somehow a natural accident. If the number of people being killed or seriously injured on our roads, were being killed in any other way, we'd be treating it as a pandemic."

It's welcome to see that NHS waiting lists are starting to fall. The New Government have ended the doctors strike & invested more in the NHS (including in much needed capital spend) in the budget. This will make a difference for those waiting https://t.co/pbsKP0hMrR

NHS England data suggests the waiting list - which still stands at 7.57 million - could be seeing the first sustained fall since the Tories came to power in 2010

Pleased to join @WomensInstitute this week to learn more about the impact that microplastics released from our clothing can have on our environment. I'm backing action to reduce microplastics and look forward to supporting this campaign.

It is welcome the Government are bringing our railways back into public ownership after years of poor services. I asked @LouHaigh what the DFT were doing to ensure there was adequate capacity to manage the extra workload. Watch my Q below 👇

I’m relentlessly focused on delivering for passengers. And I want to be fully transparent on railway performance so you can hold us to account. That’s why we’re planning to display operator performance data at stations. 🚝

I suggest avoiding Waterloo station (if you can) at the moment - lots of delays & cancellations atm due to the earlier points problems between Clapham & Wimbledon
