Radical British filmmaker Peter Watkins was briefly tipped by the BBC before The War Game made him a controversial pariah. But he persisted — and now, at 90, he is a hero of liberated, formally...

Reminder that a "very senior" Biden official told a journalist in April 2024 that the entire US policy on Sudan was about "keep[ing] the Emirates onside with Israel and onside against Iran."
There is evidence the UAE backed RSF is engaged in mass murder in El-Fashar in Darfur. Why is the U.S. allowing the UAE - which we fund militarily - help the brutal RSF engage in mass atrocity? FYI - this isn't just about Trump - the Biden Admin was letting this happen too.

Starmer’s Labour is absolutely toxic. I dont think there’s any precedent for so many councillors quitting a party out of sheer disgust at the behaviour of its leadership.
🥀We Resign! The beginning of the end for Labour in Nottingham 🥀 We can’t stand by while Labour abandon its values and continue to ruin our City and the Country. We have resigned and formed a true progressive party - Nottingham People’s Alliance. See our statement below 👇👇

“Reform’s plan to save £9 billion by targeting bogus benefit claims doesn’t add up. They are masking a malevolent agenda to cut away at the welfare state.”
'I don't buy the idea that all these people who are suffering from mental health problems are choosing not to work.' Karl Hansen doesn't believe removing PIP payments from those with anxiety will be as beneficial as Reform UK believes.

Successive governments have used disability benefits to mask deeper economic and social failures — but the answer lies in rebuilding public services and industry, not stripping away vital support. I spoke about Reform’s plan to cut £9 billion from disability benefits.

“The verdict in Belfast is not the end of the Bloody Sunday story. “It is merely the latest chapter in a decades-long struggle between truth and concealment, between families seeking accountability and a state that denied it.” Read more in my piece for @tribunemagazine on

Today’s court verdict on Soldier F is the latest act of self-protection from a state that won’t hold its agents to account even if they kill, writes John Finucane.

Keir Starmer’s response to Labour’s historic collapse in Caerphilly - losing a seat it held for more than a century - is to relaunch his campaign for compulsory ID cards, backed by just 14% of the public. Staggering incompetence.

Huge win for Plaid Cymru showing how vulnerable Starmer's Labour is to parties to their left. High turnout reflects widespread 'stop Reform' vote that can be mobilised. Tories lost their deposit in a seat where they polled 17% last time.

This tweet begins like he’s about to announce something to fix the housing crisis, then you continue reading and see he’s banging on about digital IDs again.
I recently spoke with someone buying a house with her partner. She told me that she had to pay just to verify who she was. With digital ID that could be done in seconds and wipe out the costs. Digital ID will save you time and money.

Compulsory ID cards would be a hard sell for any prime minister — but especially one who spent his first year in power jailing people for tweets, banning protests, and smearing anyone who disagrees with him.

Keir Starmer is obsessed with using state power to smear and punish his political opponents. The last thing the public wants is to hand this authoritarian freak even more control.

Does the right not realise how pathetic they look swinging between calling for the deportation of minorities and demanding sensitivity training for anyone who criticises them?
Your response to Christian Calgie’s apology and subsequent thanks to those checking in on him has been to try to whip up a storm to wreck his life. No, *we’re* not going to take this any more.

In the quoted tweet, Andrew Fox claims that the Aston Villa Jewish Villans supporters club, of which he is honorary president despite not being Jewish, is part of Fans for Diversity. Below is an email I just received from the Footballer Supporters' Association (FSA), which runs
@GarySpedding Yes, we’re part of Fans for Diversity. See below. We’re about two years old. Can you think of any reason why a Jewish supporters club might keep a low profile?

Ahead of my appearance on Panorama tonight, I was on #PoliticsLive talking about how the government aren’t fixing the housing crisis. They’re ignoring 172k children in temporary accommodation, refusing to address *astronomical rents* & siding with developers (but denying it!)
