BBC director general Tim Davie and News CEO Deborah Turness resign. Quite bloody right too. Although, given this is a BBC report, how on earth can we even know if it's true? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Turness said mistakes had been made but allegations of institutional bias were "wrong", after a leaked memo criticised the editing of a Trump documentary.

To suggest the resignations are just about the “Panorama edit” is verging on propaganda and @BBC staff re-posting Will are desperate to maintain their status quo. This is about a national broadcaster failing continually on many levels. The great British public have had enough.

Where power lies in Britain. Badenoch, Johnson, the Daily Mail wanted DG Tim Davies head as part of their long standing campaign against the BBC. Lisa Nandy’s support was inadequate. Yes the Panorama edit shouldn’t have happened. But this is wildly disproportionate. A bad day.

The BBC was forced to make 215 corrections in the last two years over the coverage by its BBC Arabic arm ( funded through our licence fee) of the Gaza conflict, The Telegraph reports. Why is this not the least surprising?

The reality is that BBC Director General Tim Davie had known about the doctoring of the Trump speech for 6 months and hoped it would go away. Well, the brilliant staff at The Telegraph only had the dossier for a week but it wasn’t the scandal that went away….it was Davie. Good

Most of us just want @BBC to tell us the truth and not to try, on a regular basis and across a range of topics, to mislead us. It is not about "standards" and "mistakes". It is about deeply embedded, institutional BBC endorsement of deceptions over truth. All else is deflection.

Who does BBC News turn to to discuss the resignations if its DG and head of news? Alan Rusbridger, who has just told viewers the Panorama was an excellent programme and that the whole idea of bias and editorial problems is a right wing get up. Ironically, of course, this

You don't have to be an uncritical fanboy of President Trump to be horrified at just how much lying the media around the world did about him. They said he was involved in election interference while they were the ones doing it!

BBC Panorama's doctored Trump footage isn't close to their worst moment. They spent months undercover investigating police officers who were plied with drink and goaded until they recounted their real-life experiences with Muslims and migrants, which differed from leftists'

A reminder. The BBC worked with a production company for 9 months on the Gaza doc. 9 months of contact - checking sources -asking questions. They saw nothing wrong. They thought they had an award-winning production. So they published it. It took me just 3 or 4 hours to work out

Davie and Turness have resigned because the BBC has been revealed to have been repeatedly biased and inaccurate in its coverage. If you’re now blaming @Telegraph journalists for reporting that then you are part of the problem. https://t.co/Kj2ZwKrl8a

Splicing together 2 separate parts of a Trump speech spoken 54 minutes apart was not a “mistake”. It was a deliberate attempt to make the President look like he was inciting violence. Quite possibly criminal and in violation of all known journalistic ethics. But, hey!

Very irritated with all the commentators tonight saying what a nice guy Tim Davie is and how he "wanted" to reform the BBC. But he didn't, did he? He did absolutely NOTHING to tackle the BBC's blatant anti-semitism, or their obsession with trans or their unscientific climate
