Great retrospective on judicial vacancies by @mike_frags. Conservative judges who can retire should do so. The White House Counsel’s Office has great people working on judicial selection. But with district court blue slips in place, not all the [few] open seats will be filled.

As this @politico article says, I oppose the home state Senator district court blue slip policy. If @SenateGOP wants conservatives in blue states it has to go. @ChuckGrassley has been a leader on blue slips - he just doesn’t currently have the support of either party to change it.

So now the left wants Judge Emil Bove recused from DOJ cases, per Prof. Erwin Chemerinsky. As usual, he is wrong: a relationship with the President doesn’t bar a judge from sitting on that President’s administration’s cases. Obviously. See Justice Kagan.
