Got a summons from the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thrissur District to appear as "accused person" in a criminal defamation case under IPC section 500. Criminal defamation because I educated the public on the dangers of unregulated herbal medicine related liver damage. Complaint

Good morning! The government recommend that doctors prescribe generics because they are affordable. We already know this. But are they effective and safe? There is literally ZERO transparent data on this. This is why our citizen-led Citizens Generics vs. Branded Drugs

From my childhood I have seen my mother/aunts sprinkling that wee bit water on the tawa before batter was spread for the next dosa. Without knowing its significance I also followed that practice. Thanks for letting us know this beautiful principle!
Ever wondered why a dosa turns out perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside? The secret goes far beyond culinary instinct driven by physics. In an authored article for @dt_next @iitmadras, Prof. Mahesh Panchagnula unpacks the science behind this everyday magic. The

Time to impose an exit tax on HNIs quitting India.
I can't tell you how many rich Indians reach out to me privately: regarding moving out of India. Their goal is not necessarily "save tax". Their goal is better lifestyle for kids: cleaner air, safety, better opportunities. Sad part is: when rich people move out-- they leave

A lot of this stuff that is "unsubtle" was actually much sharper, but CBFC turned it down a couple notches, so the movie can be misinterpreted as aspiring for subtlety, when it was actually defanged. Subtlety wouldn't be part of the convo if this were uncut.
What is being perceived as lack of subtlety in #Homebound is entirely intentional because there is nothing subtle about social oppression in this country. The filmmaker had no obligation to make it palatable to the refined cinematic taste of the elites.

Bingo, people underestimate the extent of talent deficit in the government and civil society in India.
An underrated reason why India has not been able to clean its poisonous air is that India simply does not have the smarts to solve its difficult problems. To solve urban pollution the right kind of political and administrative talent has to be in the right place, but such people

CPI(M) not happy with the new Labour laws but low on details.
The four new Labour Codes represent a systematic trampling upon the hard-won benefits and rights of our workers. By consolidating 29 existing labour laws—which, despite their shortcomings, offered at least some safeguards on wages, working hours, social security, occupational

The line quoted in the tweet below is literally the only line in the piece on labour policies. Is this the best the Print can do to hype the new labour laws? Looking forward to reading something substantial on these laws.
As Modi Govt finally notifies its most significant reform after 5 years of hesitation… Read this lament from Nani Palkhiwala in 1995… 'India’s labour policy left it unable to compete with other eastern economies' Because, #IndianLiberalsMatter

hmm....I don't buy the argument that labour laws were holding back Indian enterpreneurs but let's see how these reforms play out.
PM Modi has taken the courageous step of replacing 29 archaic labour laws, most of them predating Independence or the founding of the Republic, with four unified labour codes. If there ever was a mother of all reforms, this one is it. https://t.co/WkzvjsyeBQ
