I may also just post random side comments and thoughts from time to time based on the franchise as conversation starters.
On Valentines Day in 2019, a Japanese Poll went up for "Who would you give a box of Chocolates to" with the winner being determined on White Day, one month later. The winners would receive artwork drawn by Megumi Mizutani.
The character winners were Elesa and N, both from Gen 5.
Below is a list of Pokemon monster designs created by Atsuko Nishida. The List is organized by generation. Nishida is a fan of the Eeveelutions and has created all of them since Vaporeon. According to a history of Pikachu interview she was in charge of making cute monsters.
The Torchic themed Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP was originally sold in Japanese Pokemon Center stores to celebrate the stores' 5th anniversary. It is metallic orange with black buttons. A silhouette of Torchic is on the top cover of the system.
In Pokemon Emerald, the player can catch a Jirachi if the player waits for the Space Shuttle's count down to reach 1 from 100 at Mossdeep's Space Center.
Artwork of the HM Fly. The artwork visually describes how a small Pokemon like Pidgey is able to carry the weight of a person. Leaf grabs Pidgey by the leg as opposed to riding on top.
Mareep reference sheet drawn by Ken Sugimori for the Original Series of the Pokémon Anime. This is what a Mareep looks like with its wool shaved. The Pokédex says that Mareep’s fleece not only gets shed, but at farms it’s used for clothing.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the first set of core-series games to feature multiple regions since HeartGold and SoulSilver.
The Blueberry Academy takes place in the Unova Region, being originally introduced in Black and White.
You guys are allowed to vote for any Pokemon.
But if I catch any of you voting for Pikachu, Eevee, Mewtwo, Charizard and/or Lucario, I will send the legendary titans after you.
In 2008, Nintendo, GameFreak and Creatures had registered trademarks for the games "Pokemon Scarlet" and "Pokemon Violet" in Japan. However they used katakana instead of kanji.
These are first titles to be named after colors since Black 2 and White 2 in 2012.
In Sword and Shield, every Pokemon type uniform has a sponsor, using the logos to represent these companies. The Normal Type's sponsor is Silph Co., from Red and Green. The Silph logo is not seen anywhere else in the game and originates from HeartGold and SoulSilver.
According Atsuko Nishida and Ken Sugimori the 3 Kanto starters were designed after their fully evolved forms (Venusaur came before Bulbasaur). They are based on Frogs, Lizards and Turtles. The Pokemon were designed as sprite art first then converted to color drawings by Sugimori.

Artwork of Lucario drawn by Ken Sugimori. The piece owas made in 2005. Lucario and the Mystery of Mew released in December 2005 in Japan and this piece was likely made to promote the movie.
This piece was available on the online US Pokemon Center store to purchase.
Different interpretations of Red. Each has been drawn by Ken Sugimori. In Order: Red/Green official art, FireRed/LeafGreen official art, Kotobukiya ArtFx J Figurine art, and Pokemon Masters official art.
Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are currently the only main series titles in which the player does not live in a Town or City. Their house is instead on Route 1.
On this day, 7 years ago, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were first released on the Nintendo 3DS. These games were full re-imaginings of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, updating them with story telling and gameplay to that of Pokemon X and Y.
Concept art of Decidueye, Incineroar and Primarina for Pokemon Sun and Moon. The images were leaked in June 2016, before official reveal. The Pokemon were known as Owl 3, Tiger 3 and Sea Lion 3 in development. Incineroar's also leaked Mallow, who would be revealed in August 2016
In Pokemon X and Y Beauty Nova mentions she used to be a Black Belt, a male only trainer class being Karate King in the Japanese version. However, in Japanese she also states "the power of medical science is amazing." This leads to suspicion that Nova is transgender.

The Pokemon were first shownoff asn silhouettes on May 9th 2010 for Pokemon Sunday, fully appearing in June in an issue of Corocoro. Shortly after debut, fans quickly nicknamed Snivy as "Smugleaf."
In Generation 2, the Moon Ball will never have a boosted catch rate due to a bug. Instead of boosting the catch rate of a Pokemon that evolves with Moon Stone, it instead boosts the rate if the Pokemon evolves with a Burn Heal, However, no Pokemon evolves with a Burn Heal.
If one were to seemingly softlock themselves in Cianwood City with only a single Pokemon in HeartGold and SoulSilver, a man in the Pokemon Center would give the player a Tentacool to carry on with the game.

Volo's Team is nearly identical to Cynthia's Platinum team, replacing Milotic, which is not obtainable in Legends: Arceus, with Hisuian Arcanine.
In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Cynthia also uses a Gastrodon and Porygon-Z both of which are obtainable in Legends: Arceus.
Diamond Dust as it appears in Pokemon Platinum. Diamond Dust can be seen in Generations 4, 5, 6 and 7 on certain days of the year such as holidays, special times of the year, game anniversaries and birthdays.
On this day, 6 years ago, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were released on the Nintendo 3DS. These games were remakes of the original Ruby and Sapphire titles, bringing upgrades and new story elements such as Primal Reversion, all new Mega Evolutions and the Delta Episode.

Artwork of Eevee for the Project Eevee Twitter. It describes the gender difference between the male and female Partner Eevee in Let's Go, with the female tail pattern described as flower-shaped.
The gender difference has been applied to all Eevee starting in Sword and Shield.
Ash has crossdressed in every completed series of the Pokemon anime except for the X and Y series.
While Ash has not crossdressed in X and Y, Serena has taken up the role of crossdressing, dressing up as Ash in X and Y's 115th episode, Battling at Full Volume.
Oranguru's Pokedex image from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet pays reference to Oranguru's Pokedex entry from Pokemon Moon, stating that Oranguru and Slowking are known to match their wits on beaches.
Official art of Ultra Necrozma and many other Legendary Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. This artwork was released after the reveal of Ultra Necrozma post launch and was made to show case the Legendary Pokemon appearing in Ultra Wormholes.
Concept Art of Dawn and Lucas for Pokemon Platinum. The characters received design changes from that in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl to fit Sinnoh's colder climate and includes a new Poketch model!
Official artwork of the HM Strength. In Alola, Strength became exclusive to Machamp, but soon became available to many other Pokemon in Generation 8 by Level up and Breeding.

Like Giratina, the Distortion World is a personification of antimatter, this is shown through the Distortion World and the real world balancing each other out.
According to Shigeki Morimoto, Mew's designer. Mew was actually based off Mewtwo, NOT the other way around, as it was designed to be a simpler version of it for cartridge space.
Mew was added to the game only a few weeks before Red/Green were finished, never intended to be seen.

The artwork for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl resemble that of the sprite work for the original Diamond and Pearl games.
At the time of this post, these would be the first remakes without new traditional 2D art of the Pokemon, and without redesigns of the protagonists.
Overworld Sprites for Prof. Birch, Brock, Leaf, May (RS), May (Emerald), Misty, Prof. Oak, Lance, Steven Stone, Todd Snap and Red for use in Pokemon Ranger. These sprites went unused in the final game.
Red's file calls him Fire, paralleling Leaf's name not being Green in FRLG.
As of Sword and Shield, Galar is the only region to lack a Victory Road before the Pokemon League.
While Alola doesn't have a traditional Victory Road, Mt. Lanakila has similar aspects and its name translates to "Mt. Victory" implying that it is Victory Road's replacement.
On this day, 11 years ago, Pokemon Black and White were released in Japan on the Nintendo DS. These games served as a "soft reboot" for the franchise, having only new Pokemon and characters until post game. They are the first games in Generation 5.
In Diamond and Pearl, the first Pokemon to be distributed in the Cherish Ball is Shokotan's Tropius, originally made to promote Pokemon Sunday.
In BDSP, Shoko (named Deanna in English) on Route 225 will use a Tropius in a Cherish Ball, a reference to the event.
Official art of the HM Dive. Dive is so far the only HM to have not made an appearance in any Pokemon anime. It has however appeared in Pokemon manga such as Pokemon Adventures.
According to a Nintendo Dream Interview, Flygon was intended to get a Mega Evolution, being designed by Ken Sugimori. It never got past the design phase due to art block, it was originally planned to appear in Pokemon X and Y.

In Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, Winona's Altaria is level 33, causing it to be illegal. In Generation 3, Altaria can't learn Dragon Dance until level 40 and wild Altaria can't be caught at under level 35 (the level it evolves from Swablu) in these games.
Hattterene is known for it's long hair that covers its body like a cloak. Digging into Sword and Shield's files and viewing the Pokemon's model shows that it's divided into two parts. Removing the lower half exposes Hatterene's tiny body and legs as opposed to a tall one.
According to an interview in Game Informer, Snorlax was named after Kirby, the character from the Nintendo franchise of the same name. Snorlax ( カビゴン Kabigon) was based on Kōji Nishino, who was nicknamed Kirby (カービィ Kābī), for his appetite.
In generation 4, it is stated that the Poketch only comes in two models, a blue for boys and a pink for girls. However, Barry uses an orange Poketch.
This is explained in Pokemon Adventures, where an orange one was produced to avoid confusion between the three.
Alolan Sandshrew's Pokemon Moon Pokedex flavor text states people slide Sandshrew as far as possible on ice for sport. This brings to mind the real world winter sport of Curling. Alolan Sandshrew's official concept art implies that Curling is one of it's inspirations.
Concept art of Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre for Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. It can be seen in the English Guidebook as well as the New Hoenn Artbook, a book exclusive to Japanese pre-orders of both games.
Concept Art of Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie for Pokemon X and Y. Along with the games' mascot legendary Pokemon, These Pokemon were the first to be revealed for the games.
These pieces of concept art can be found in the Japanese Kalos Zukan (Pokedex) Guidebook.
Reference Sheet of Snorunt drawn by Ken Sugimori created for the Advance Generation series of the Pokemon anime. Although one may be able to see under it in existing models and artwork, this is the first time a Snorunt has been shown without it's "hat" showing it is a ball.
In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Cyrus states, "I do not make Pokémon my friends or partners." Yet, he owns a Golbat that evolves into Crobat, which can only evolve through high friendship. While wild Crobat can be caught, they cannot be found in the Sinnoh region.
In Sun and Moon, Kahili is the only character in the Elite Four that the player has not meant previously.
This may not be the case in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, as the player can choose to get the Flyinum Z before that point, activating a cutscene with Kahili.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, releasing Ditto from a Poke Ball will transform it into the player. However, the Ditto retains it's color, likely to be able to tell it apart from the player. This is actually accurate to generation 2, where Ditto retains its color during transform.
Because of Victini's unique placement in the Unova Regional Dex, it is the only Pokemon to have the number
#000
in any Pokedex format and come before the regional starter Pokemon within its own generation.

Art for the Battle Subway for Pokemon Black and White. While made for Black and White, it can be seen in the Lumiose City Museum in Pokemon X and Y.
The art features a multi battle with Hilbert and Hilda, whose names come from battle or fight in most languages.
The Love Ball is intended to have an 8x Catch Boost towards wild Pokemon of the same species but the opposite gender as the player's current Pokemon.
However, in generation 2, it would have an 8x catch boost for Pokemon of the SAME gender and species as the player's instead.

Concept art of Cosmog for Pokemon Sun and Moon, describing its behavioral traits and Nebby's relationship with Lillie.
It also depicts Guzma grabbing a Cosmog by the arm, the two are never seen interacting in-game and it's unknown whether or not this is Nebby or another Cosmog.
In Pokemon Emerald, if the player chooses Torchic, May will have a Torkoal in the optional battle in Rustboro City. Torkoal is replaced with Slugma in all battles after without any explanation. Brendan has Slugma and keeps it in future battles if the player chose Torchic.
Illex Forest is currently the only forest in the main series to lack any form of tall grass where standard wild Pokemon would spawn. Instead, wild Pokemon can spawn anywhere, much like most caves before Let's Go.
According to a press release for the game, Hometown Story, Atsuko Nishida is responsible for designing Ash, Brock and Misty for the Pokemon anime.
Nishida is also noteworthy for designing Pikachu, the Pokemon franchise's mascot and Ash's first partner Pokemon.

Muk's body is extremely toxic to the point that even just accidentally touching it can cause harm. Despite this, Ash's Muk hugs people of all kinds with no harm caused to them.

As stated in its Pokédex entry in many games, Nosepass will always point north. This was implemented into Pokémon GO. If Nosepass is encountered or spawns facing away from North it will eventually recalibrate itself so that it is pointing north.
If Ultra Beasts are considered Legendary Pokemon, Nihilego is the first of which to become Poison-Type. Otherwise, Eternatal will be the first Poison-Type Legendary. With Eternatal, there is at least one Pokemon of every type is considered Legendary, except for Bug.

The Spots of water within the caves of Sinnoh's lakes correlate to where the other lakes are placed.
in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the water in the Nameless Cavern vaguely resembles the spots of water in Generation 4. and places all three in the same corresponding locations.
