In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, releasing Ditto from a Poke Ball will transform it into the player. However, the Ditto retains it's color, likely to be able to tell it apart from the player. This is actually accurate to generation 2, where Ditto retains its color during transform.

If the Ditto is shiny, it'll retain the blue colors instead of purple btw :)
