More harrowing scenes in Chiswick as extreme anti-car and anti-business policies turn this once bustling SUV park into a deserted wasteland.
#ChiswickCheeseMarket
Shocking scenes of terrible devastation caused by Hounslow Council’s traffic management scheme on Devonshire Road, Chiswick. Imagine how much better this would look filled with parked cars.
#ChiswickChaos
Not even 24 hours since the election result and already the KHANAGE has started.
Hard working SUVs banished so that pedestrians WHO DO NOT PAY ROAD TAX can buy flowers.
London has fallen.
Just look at these grim scenes of devastation.
Well done Londoners 👏
😜
Emboldened by democracy the anti-car fundamentalists continue with their wretched plan to turn Chiswick into a barren retail desert.
This once bustling SUV sanctuary has been utterly destroyed. Drivers forced to walk up to 300m from their homes to shop at M&S.
#Chiswick
It is a travesty how Hounslow Council continues to destroy Chiswick by allowing this incredibly unpopular cheese market to take over the parking spaces in the centre of the High Road
Residents in
#Sheffield
are blocking traffic on a street just off Ecclesall Road in protest of drivers using it as a ‘rat run’. Those who live on Stretton Road say they’re fed up cars using the street to avoid traffic
@itvcalendar
5,000 drivers per day used this road as a rat run to avoid driving on the six lane motorway 500m away that runs parallel and that was built solely for them at great expense.
Now the road is for people walking, cycling and jogging because of this simple filter.

I bring you live footage from Devonshire Road Chiswick where these workmen are desecrating the high altar of car worship in the name of installing a safe cycle lane for children to ride their bikes to school.
This is so sickening.
And it’s avoidable.
No more procrastination. No more clutching pearls about drivers’ feelings.
An 8 year old girl was at a tea party and she will never go home.
School streets everywhere now.
Thankfully these scenes of devastating destruction on a Saturday afternoon will come to an end in two weeks when Hounslow Council restores cars to Devonshire Road in Chiswick.
It’s gonna look so much better filled with parked cars. And busier and better for businesses.
First ride on the new Hammersmith Gyratory section of Cycleway 9. This is a massive game changer.
More of this please

First school run on fully opened Cycleway 9 in Chiswick done.
Fantastically chaotic scenes as bikes outnumber cars on Chiswick High Road.
It’s working!
#ChiswickChaos
Everybody dedicating time to fighting against 20mph zones, LTNs, cycle lanes and bus stop bypasses needs to read this horrific account of the killing of Gao Gao by an uninsured hit and run driver in Hackney last September.
It is sickening and this is what needs to stop.
Just think how many hard working SUVs could have parked here all day if all these people didn’t sit in the road buying food and drink from the shops.
Parking is essential for shops
#Chiswick
LTNs are really good.
If your Council isn’t installing them give them hell. They shouldn’t be denying people these benefits because they are worried about hurting the feelings of some drivers.
@LBRUT
@wandbc

Walkers and cyclists used to have to peer around this corner to check if a speeding SUV was driving from the Riverside gym.
Now it is just a lovely route for walking and cycling with no danger because of a few planters.

Filippo Ganna is hitting speeds of 52 k/ph in the Giro d'Italia time trial at the moment.
Ineos need to find that cyclist who managed 52mph on the Embankment. They will blow the field apart.
Yet another place in the City that has been made unsafe for women during the day and totally inaccessible to the elderly and disabled due to the exclusion of Black Cabs.
Leadenhall Market. Dead.
I thought that removing the cycle lane on Kensington High Street was supposed to make traffic flow?
The elderly, disabled, local businesses and the working class are reaping the rewards of hedge fund managers and retired actors campaigning so hard for this.
Literally tens of people could have parked their SUVs here all day if Hounslow Council had not closed this car park in

so a handful of people can buy some flowers.
“It is important that people who choose to walk and cycle are able to do so safely but this should not come at the cost of people who rely on cars”
Oh yes it bloody well should and it will.
Hounslow Council relentless in its determination to destroy Chiswick by making space for people instead of cars.
Devonshire Road at the end. Used to be pedestrianised until the local car lobby turned it into a car park.
Yet another Sunday trading destroyed in Chiswick because of Hounslow Council’s insistence on holding these markets that nobody can get to because they are taking up vital parking spaces for cars.

6pm Monday rush hour at
@KingStreetChaos
in Hammersmith where a cycle lane is ruining people’s lives and killing businesses.
Distressing images from the front line.
For 3 years I am told that “anti-car policies” discriminate against elderly, poor, disabled.
And yet when journalists interview actual “victims” it turns out they are rich, able-bodied, middle-aged car addicts who are too good for walking and PT.
The driver, who ran the two cyclists over killing them instantly and had pleaded guilty in court, had his prison sentence suspended by the judge...
Now, the deceased' widows are suing him for over £200,000 in damages
#cycling
Some great feedback on how Cycleway 9 in Chiswick is already encouraging able-bodied men to take a short walk to the gym even before it opens up to cyclists.
Modal shift in action. Cycle lanes work.
Chiswick Conservatives and OneChiswick: “Every car journey in Chiswick is essential. Chiswick people do not make unnecessary car journeys”

It’s already starting to work on Devonshire Road, Chiswick even before the new bike stands arrive and before the cafes and restaurants are opened properly on July 4th 😍
Cycled down Hammersmith Road in the bus lane westbound and a black cab driver approached from a side road fast and then stopped when he saw me.
As I cycled past he screamed with a bright red face "Cuuuuuuunnnnnnnntttttt".
Scary to think of the state of mind of these drivers.
Discriminating against elderly blind plumbers delivering disabled fridges on St Andrew’s Hill in the City of London.
The social and environmental injustice of LTNs strikes again.
More heartbreaking stories of driver distress from the frontline of Chiswick where a road prioritised for buses and active travel is turning 5 min drives to the gym into 25 min drives.

Nowhere is safe from drivers.
One day my children will talk to me in wonderment about how society allowed people to drive killing machines in urban areas in the same way as I talked to my Dad about smoking on the tube.
I have an 8 year old daughter. Next week she will have an end of term party.
I have campaigned for and secured a LTN in my area so my children can walk and cycle safely on our residential streets.
This Conservative Councillor has fought against us every step. She is the bully
"The council has “bullied” residents and is "not interested in listening" to concerns about traffic reduction measures, householders have claimed." That's about Oxford but it applies in

. Many other similarities, too - worth a read:
It’s dark, it’s wet, it’s December, the cars have a green light, the bikes have a red light and lo and behold people are using the new cycle lane on Chiswick High Road. 😍
Cheesed off in Chiswick. 😡
This road is closed to hard working SUVs so that a couple of cheesephiles can buy cheese.
Vote Conservative to stop this war on cars and begin the long overdue war on cheese.
Stop at red light on Sutton Court Road at jnc with A4. Woman behind accelerates, swerves round me and speeds across six lanes of traffic going on green.
I shouted but then, after self-reflection, thought about how she must be feeling.
“For too long, we have unthinkingly defended the rights of the motorists and ignored their challenge to many of our basic beliefs. They are noisy, polluting, and destructive; they cause cities to be shaped around vehicles, not people.”
If all these cyclists keep stopping at red lights we are going to need a longer light phase.
Cycleway 9 in Chiswick busy with people doing their morning run at 8:30am today.
They have discovered the secret of coats and are still riding in late Nov despite predictions.
@Tank160650
Actually they do. And plenty of studies prove it. And traffic volumes have fallen on the two main roads that this LTN makes drivers use instead of cutting through residential streets.
LTNs work and many drivers don’t need to drive many journeys.
Every cyclist who replies to or interacts in any way with Charlotte Gill is funding her grift. She is an out of work freelancer desperate for clicks and has decided cyclists and asylum seekers are easy targets. Her following is fascist.
Just block her and ignore her.
The pace in Paris is breathtaking. This is how to do it in London. Just steamroller all the vexated drivers and phoney champions of environmental justice with fast roll out of hundreds of km of protected cycle lanes instead of arguing over every single km.

Public Transport / buses is a Govt & Mayoral priority too. You need the correct balance. You refuse to acknowledge public transport is green, and can be greener still, or that mums and old people that use it have a right to as they can't cycle.
Net support for

42% net approval = 59% supporting and 17% opposing.
This is what Devonshire Road in Chiswick would be if it wasn’t for Joanna Biddolph’s meddling and the naivety of a new Traffic Officer in the Council. Instead it’s a mess of SUVs dominating the space where people should be lingering and enjoying the retail environment.

Which LTN in Clapham is causing these bus delays and the social and environmental injustice for people living on this residential road?
I can’t find it. Or a cycle lane.
Wait there are children using Cycleway 9 in Chiswick to ride their bikes to school? In November?
But we were told this was a fantasy of the cycle lobby. It can’t be true.
Here is another LTN that was quietly turned into a place for people instead of cars without Sunak, Harper, Stewart, Little Ninja, Lomax or Cristo noticing
The TfL review of Bus Stop Bypasses has two pages describing each of the 4 collisions between cyclists and pedestrians.
If they had done the same for injuries involving motor vehicles with pedestrians and cyclists then they would have to add 13,200 pages to the report .
13,200!
Our review found that just 4 collisions took place at bus-stops between cyclists and pedestrians from 2020-22 - none on the crossing.
For context, over 11,400 pedestrians and 15,000 cyclists were injured in collisions with motor vehicles in the same period.
This is how velophobes think. Blame the parent for cycling with their child. Not the conditions not the driver of this BMW endangering the child.
Then when the parents give up and use a car the velophobes object to permanent cycle lanes because they cater only for a minority.
A lovely morning for cycling and jogging in Cycleway9
#Chiswick
It’s hard to imagine there are still people campaigning to stop these children cycling.
The Streatham Wells LTN and Cycleway 9 in Chiswick are causing traffic congestion and severe delays on the M4 eastbound into London.
This has nothing to do with the tens of thousands of innocent hard working motorists driving private cars into London instead of taking trains.
10am on a Sunday and one can only begin to imagine the many hundreds of customers who have been unable to drive to shop in Chiswick’s independent businesses and buy kitchens because this Flower Market has been allowed to occupy all the parking spaces
Brian is certain that cycling in the road is against the Highway Code and he is going to summon me and the Mayor of Ealing (???) to the Crown Court where we can look forward to having our asses beaten. This is very exciting
