Sometimes single-minded dedication to a problem is the path to great science. I’ve never met someone more focused on a problem than David Baker. Among the postdocs at UCSF in the early ‘90s, none of us would have been surprised to learn there was a Nobel Prize in David’s future.

@GSK @MSKCancerCenter @OPIGlets Work is currently under review - we decided to post a preprint after seeing the excellent work by @davidrliu, @fischerlab1 & @ChoudharyLab who used continuous evolution to engineer the previously reported superdegron for use with a reduced off-target IMiD

@GSK @MSKCancerCenter Thank also to @OPIGlets and my PhD co-supervisor Charlotte Deane for helping me navigate the computational aspects of this project, the lessons learned from molecular docking based on PDB structure 6H0F helped inform the design of our mutant ZF degron library

This project was done in collaboration with @GSK and @MSKCancerCenter and I cannot overstate the contribution from Dr Lewis Brayshaw in spearheading the library screen component of the study - the three months we spent at GSK conducting it were a whirlwind(!)
