Our new paper in @JAMA_current on age and sex differences in efficacy of diabetes treatments. It shows that older age is associated with greater cardiovascular benefits of SGLT2 inhibitors despite smaller improvement in HbA1c compared to younger people.

We included 383 studies across 64 countries. Social inequalities in frailty is a global phenomenon. Health services in areas of higher socioeconomic deprivation will encounter higher rates of frailty, and frailty occurring in relatively younger people.

The greatest social gradient in frailty was often seen in younger age groups. Early- and mid-life factors are also strongly associated with frailty in later life. Life-course approach to frailty prevention required.

Pleased to share our new paper on the association between socioeconomic position and frailty. People with lower socioeconomic position had:. - Higher prevalence of frailty. - Earlier onset of frailty. - Greater frailty progression. Open access: 🧵👇
