I feel like up until a decade or so ago there was more of an effort from the big media companies to keep the classic stuff they owned in the public consciousness. In the streaming age you barely have any movies from before 1980 up on the big platforms
I totally believe this and I find it so weird. THE MATRIX is a 25 year old movie. When I was a teenager in the 90s, we knew and loved movies that were 30, 40 years old, at least in my experience. The lack of curiosity among young people today is just baffling to me.
