. What do the media rights look like? What's the distribution? How do I balance that against what I'm currently doing or currently receiving from my league and all of that stuff. So, that hasn't come out yet. So, I think that's the biggest thing that they're waiting on. .

Tim Polasek seems to hint at FBS talks after the Monday press conference about NDSU opting in: "The good news is that we've had conversations. I would consider two major conversations with opting in when there was a little bit of noise about conference realignment, moving up. ⬇️.

Why it's not a clear decision for NDSU to opt-in from the USD AD.

Will NDSU finally be able to schedule some FBS games with this rule?.
For FBS vs. FCS games, FCS teams need to have 56.7 scholarships during a rolling 2-year period for a win to count toward bowl game eligibility for the FBS team. That was a detail that needed to be ironed out. Screenshot from my December article:

This was interesting. House Settlement questions with several tied to a potential FBS move. Of Note: Many G6s and FCS who opt-in may be doing it because they don't have a healthy collective and it's the only way they can pay players well.

The strength is in the herd up in Fargo, North Dakota. It's the North Dakota State BISON, man!!. I love these guys, and they kick some serious but in the FCS. They win the title almost every freakin' year!. Thank you Coach Polasek and @NDSUfootball Go Bison!!

NDSU is one of the least reliant on the government and the school in the country. This will look better and better as colleges are forced to cut budgets.
Fresno St Cutting Athletic Support. Over the last 5 years, institutional support ranged from $13-19.7M. Pres. Jimenez-Sandoval said the school can not continue at those levels. AD Klassy must either generate new revenues or cut costs, but neither are easy.

Opting in is too new. You’re putting too much weight on this. NDSU could afford it if they needed to. Brand is so much more important. They get more viewers than most G6 teams and they have proven they can raise money fast if they need to.
It is certainly not the end all be all, but it doesn't lead one to believe NDSU is ready to make the jump just yet. Tarleton St, Montana St, Sac St are all opting in.
