NEEDED: THE MCKAY TROPHY If @USC + @uoregon are getting a @bigten rivalry trophy, there's no doubt: It should honor John McKay, one of the greatest Ducks AND greatest Trojans of all-time. Without him, @uscfb wouldn't be #USC, and @oregonfootball would've been in the 1960s WAC

This is absolutely true... Some of the best, most brilliant coaches are terrible executives, which (along with GMs) are entirely independent skill sets Only a few folks (Saban, Carroll, Stoops, Paterno, etc.) are freakish unicorns who happen to be incredibly good at all of them
Historically, a college football coach was fired because he failed as a coach. Now, he may fail because he’s a bad GM. Before you let big buyout $$ (and possibly a quality coach) walk out the door, are you sure he wouldn’t succeed with better players? Structure matters.

A BETTER PLAN FOR THE ACC? I love this idea from Mark for the ACC. For various historical reasons, most ACC teams have a key non-ACC rival. An 8+1+1 schedule of 8 ACC games + 1 non-ACC P4 rival game + 1 big name P4 non-conf game might be an even better option than the 9+1,
@TJAltimore This is why I have always advocated for an 8+2 format. We need a 2nd P4 non-conference more than we need a 9th league game, IMO.
