🚨🚨 Interested in ⬆️ mechanical properties of tendons? 🚨🚨 Please see below for a 🧵 on why strain magnitude is an important factor based off my recent review
journals.lww.com
e, understanding the modulation of mechanical properties through training is key as part of optimizing athletic task performance and rehabilitation. In vivo human tendon adaptation to exercise occurs...

Most criminal refereeing I've seen since they gave Lucho offside against spurs. Absolutely unbelievable. Konate is also absolutely killing us in every shape, way and form as he had been all year #MCILIV

Another recent paper on tendinopathy looking at the 🔗 between mechanical stress, inflammation & vascularity
advanced.onlinelibrary.wiley.com
This review explores the complex and self-reinforcing cycle of mechanical stress, inflammation, and altered vascularity in tendinopathy—a common, painful tendon disorder. It integrates current...

My wife is a consultant gastroenterologist - long term NSAID supplementation would lead to kidney damage, stomach ulcers, colitis etc (basically gastrointestinal pathology). I hope when this info hits the general public, particularly young males, they're informed of huge risks
@MVFranchi @JPhysiol @jo_malli @pgreenhaff @UniofNottingham nice Martino and colleagues. Question though - as a completely unintended consequence, could these results maybe spark a trend in ⬆️ NSAIDs consumption for those seeking to increase muscle size?

Its not on the line... at all... in any shape way or form. The VAR had no strong evidence to change the on field decision. Plus where was the 'higher threshold' for contact for a penalty? it was a toe flick. Chris Kavanagh making it up as he goes along as its Liverpool
It's on the line but Virgil van Dijk catches Dango Ouattara at the edge of the box 💥 After a VAR check, Igor Thiago restores Brentford's two-goal from the penalty spot ⚽

thanks to all @SportsmithHQ for the invite and of course Amy & Liam from @delsysinc for the amazing support helping me run the session. You guys went way and beyond for me 🙏 If you & your staff are interested in learning more around this DM me.

Live demo of how EMG amplitudes & firing rates and how common 'activation' exercises have underwhelming consequences for muscle activity and overall preparation especially compared to more gross mechanical activities. Let's just say the crowd were convinced!

What a weekend of learning and sharing at the @SportsmithHQ Strength & Power conference. Too much to get thru but briefly in my session we looked at - role of and methods to ⬆️ Motor Unit Recruitment

actually there's acute data 2 suggest high rep training 2 failure ⬇️ total Type II Fibre MUR. tho longer term studies show this may not be large enough to make a detectable overall diff to hypertrophy. Anyway, light loads dont 'amplify' hypertrophy more than just heavy alone

This is not how it works. A few misconceptions. Metabolic stress is the long way to MUR through afferent feedback and then they ultimately converge on identical molecular pathways. There's no 'amplification' of mechanical tension.
Poliquin 6-12-25 Method 60 second dissertation on my views regarding hypertrophy and the relationship between: 1. mechanical tension - the holy grain and main driver 2. metabolic stress - an amplifier of hypertrophy in presence of mechanical tension but ineffective on its own

Reminder theres ❌️ evidence in 📚 of specific adaptations associated w/ overcoming or yielding isos adaptations. all 📚 thus far have been acute & even then, show v little to no diff in neuromuscular response. In fact most evidence is extrapolated from small muscles <10% MVC
Not all isometrics are the same. Different types. Different adaptations. What you use and when you use it…matters. We covered yielding, overcoming, and EQIs, but there are other useful variations too - Oscillatory isos, iso-dynamic, etc. Understanding why you’re using

"lengthened partials" is not just dividing a ROM in 2 & working half of it at longer lengths. Like ive said for yrs now, If thats all you think it is, then you've entirely missed the point. Zero biomechanical understanding of them https://t.co/KD2K42UUEL

Picking up steam ... I published the first paper on these 11yrs ago https://t.co/ZyAuc4UpCQ Have some more under review at the minute also so keep an eye out
onlinelibrary.wiley.com
Introduction: Modulation of muscle characteristics was attempted through altering muscle stretch during resistance training. We hypothesized that stretch would enhance muscle responses. Methods:...
"Lengthened partials" are picking up steam! This recent study, led by @BradSchoenfeld @JeffNippard - is similar to many other recent studies. LP's work generally as well as full ROM training, for muscle HYPERTROPHY. How that translates into other adaptations is not well

Another one of these silly posts giving ppl a completely distorted view of reality & how quickly u can accrue muscle mass 40lbs in 7wks is over 2kg of muscle per wk, 18kg in total! Absolutely physiologically impossible 😂 Holy muscle protein synthesis rate batman @mackinprof
