Yet another study showing no hypertrophic differences from heavier (10RM) vs lighter (20RM) loads. Evidence on the topic is now overwhelming. This study showed higher reps promoted better oxygen utilization; perhaps benefit to combining rep ranges?

Gain muscle to lose fat? "This analysis reveals that a 1.9–3.3% increase in global muscle mass in humans is associated with 4.1 ± 5.8% lower fat mass." Great work by @HeWaHippo and co with important health implications.

Contrary to what I'd expected, our new study showed similar muscle gains in the middle delt with the use of DBs vs cable lateral raises. Kudos to @StianLa07849895 for spearheading πŸ’ͺ.

A truly terrific read by @GregNuckols that not only takes a deep dive into the research about the relationship between RT volume and hypertrophy, but more importantly about how to take an evidence-based approach to fitness prescription.

β€œ. resistance training is one of the most important interventions you can do for overall health and wellness,” said Schoenfeld. β€œIt positively affects virtually every organ system and is key to preventing a loss of physical independence as we age.”

The closest thing we have to the fountain of youth πŸ’ͺ. "Older adults who engage in regular resistance training can maintain physical function levels similar to that of younger adults.".

Our new study showed that pre-exhaust training slightly impaired lower body muscle development in resistance trained individuals. Pre-print available for all to read.

Our new study now in preprint suggests that a specific warm up may not be necessary when training with medium-high rep ranges. Conceivably, the initial reps serve as a "warm up". Eschewing the specific warm up could be a time-saving strategy for RT πŸ’ͺ.

The title says it all. Periodizing training around the menstrual cycle is not supported by current research. Adjustments can be made to program variables based on symptoms that may occur throughout the cycle if/when warranted.
