This is officially my favorite piece of elementary art ever. Students our hard-working support staff and then drew portraits of them. So beautiful to recognize those that keep us operating all the time! @WAB_LIVE

Currently reading this… “Students pay attention to teachers’ words and actions, and they notice how teachers respond to their ideas.” A tale of two science classrooms: How different approaches to participation shape learning

The ways a teacher chooses to open up or constrain opportunities for student talk sets the tone for classroom engagement.

This is how we translangauge: 1. Gave the instructions in Eng to all Ss. 2. Ss searched in their languages for articles/videos about their topic. 3. Ss wrote notes in multiple languages I translated the Korean to figure out what she wrote.

100000%! Grading is rather pointless. Self reflection, effort, creative problem-solving - these are what make the biggest impact on us as learners and push us to learn more. Doesn’t matter if we’re in EY or Calculus! #pypchat

Most deadlines can be flexible, as they can be for adults. So let’s show the same grace we have / should have to children.

Beautiful thread on the power of questioning and creativity in math lessons. This conversation alone tells you more about these student’s’ understanding than any worksheet or multiple choice test.

I walked into a classroom full of third graders today, while two of them were very eagerly debating a point with their teacher. Teacher: "Now that our guest is here, perhaps you could ask the question of him."

The human brain learns best when content is divided into smaller segments of information. Dividing content-delivery into shorter segments of time—about ten or twenty minutes, rather than sixty or ninety minutes helps us learn. #TBR #teacher #Trainer #brainscience🧠

Literacy is one of the greatest civil rights issues of our time. Only 1/3 of children read at grade level. I'm proud to say I'm executive producing @righttoreadfilm, coming this spring. If literacy is freedom, and I know it is, then let's make sure all our children are free.
