It was a joy to join the @reggioaustralia Conference Landscapes of Collaboration with Katherine Williams from UWCSEA. So many rich provocations & reminders of what matters in education. We're sharing reflections here https://t.co/FR933ZPgfo

If you have a few moments to listen to this interview as a parent with your child. Possible one of the best post race interviews I have ever watched #PlayOn

I’m not sure if people realise just how much of a crackdown there has been on protesting in this country. 49 anti-protest laws in two decades. An insane amount of penalties for people who engage in peaceful protest. https://t.co/AYPoh8yxGn

The Protest in Peril report analyses and compiles every single bill across Australia over the last two decades which has impacted upon the right to protest, and has found the right to protest is...
A great thing about Australian politics is that everyone says they support the right to peaceful protest but everyone simultaneously hates and bags each individual instance of peaceful protest because every single example is somehow "not the right way to do it"

Urging people to be positive doesn’t boost their resilience. It denies their reality. When times are tough, we don’t need good vibes only. We need a hand to keep us steady through all the vibrations. Strength doesn’t come from forced smiles. It comes from feeling supported.

If schools are really serious about becoming more inclusive, equitable, just and diverse, they need to address every point in this thread and acknowledge the harm that current systems, structures, environments & approaches inflict, particularly on neurodivergent students. #DEIJ
Dear @GMB and the government, I was #NotASchoolSkiver. I was a child traumatised by school and exhausted from the relentless panic attacks and anxiety it triggered. I was a child forced back into the same environment day after day, regardless of its effects.

Sewing and knitting have been provisions in our classroom for over a year now. Engaging in these activities is not ‘too hard’ for 5 year olds - there are so many wonderful benefits and opportunities for learning. “This is so relaxing!” says A “I just love this.”
Sewing promotes sustainable and anti-stereotypical practice and many areas of development, as well as being a useful skill. By Annette Rawstrone

Why is it, when we’re told that we have to prepare children for the ‘real world’ it always means making them do unpleasant things? It means making them get up early every morning, or wear clothes they hate. 1/

Managing boredom is a skill which many children today don’t get the chance to develop due to over-scheduling. What might I do when I don’t know what to do? “…it is a useful emotion because it is helps us reflect and make changes to what we’re doing or our surroundings.”
'Mum, Dad, I'm bored!' It is OK for kids to feel bored. Boredom can help children develop some important skills during these holidays. @DrMazzucchelli from @CurtinUni shows how parents can help. https://t.co/CPsY7GGbR4

One of the mysteries of life for me is why we have designed school in such a way that it requires children to do so many things which are very hard for them - and which become much easier in adulthood. 1/

We can retell stories with coding. We can think about a sequence of events. What happened first? Then what happened? How does the story end?
