We know so much more about psychology and C.D. now but yet no major changes? Schools are left trying to stitch up wounds without removing the metaphorical sharp objects that keep causing them. This is how all teachers should treat all children and young people SEND or not. They should all be treated as individuals and be able to progress in their own time not based on others performances. I know this is not easy under the current system of accountability and assessment.
āItās different for every student and itās based on what they need.ā We spoke to Clare and Helen at Talbot School to find out about the tailored support they give children with SEND in a specialist setting. As part of our Plan for Change, we want to learn from special schools

6 hours isolation for forgetting a planner?? She didnāt hurt or upset anyone? Sheās 12 and she forgot something!? Iām sorry itās cruel and needs to be stopped!! @educationgovuk there should be rules on how far schools can punish kids!?!.
A staggering story. "A 12-year-old girl. panicked when she realised she had arrived at school without her planner: a mistake punishable with 6 hours in isolation". Her dad: "She was rushing because she didn't want to be late for school. that would have led to a detention. ā¬ļø

My sons school had a culture day last week too. One of his best friends is Chinese & went in his national costume. My son didnāt know what to wear so wore his uniform? This girls idea is great!š¬š§How can we expect British kids to celebrate others cultures but not their own?.
Such a discrimination is unacceptable in the U.K. People are allowed to celebrate all cultures accept the British. The school head teacher must be dismissed from service and charged under the Equality Act 2010. #sajjadraja #ReformUK #CourtneyWright

Crazy! It seems to me the system doesnāt reward schools for making a real effort to support the these kids!? It only rewards them for academic results? Am I right?.
āFor pupils with an education, health and care plan (EHCP), suspensions increased by 31.7 per cent compared with the previous year, crossing the 100,000 barrier for the first time (101,381).ā
