SATs narrow the curriculum, encourage teaching to the test and place undue pressure on children from a very young age. This is especially concerning for pupils with SEND, 76% of whom fail their SATs. Wales has abolished SATs - England should follow suit. @MoreThanScore

Schools are having to retest pupils because SATs don’t show what children can really do. After hosting an event for MPs to try the papers, I raised this in Parliament – calling for a system that builds children’s confidence, not one that adds pressure or narrows learning.
