This petition has recently been posted in Australia, in response to a case of alleged abuse by a man working in childcare centres there. In my opinion this is feeding the panic. It threatens to challenge opportunity for children to build relationships with caring men.

Does the achievement of a "Good Level of Development" by all children at the end of their 1st school year, really represent "the Best Start in Life"? Where and when might we be able to debate this? Or are we supposed to just accept this unquestioningly?.
📢 A bold ambition from the new government:. 🎯 75% of children to reach a good level of development by age 5 by 2028. The Best Start in Life strategy puts early years front and centre, now we need action, funding, and trust in the profession.

I remain a sceptic on the notion of school readiness and the best start in life. I can't help thinking this is somewhat misguided and confused.
